After a year of having four abnormal pap smears and now five months of constant bleeding/spotting followed by full blown over flowing painful periods I have failed to have a period what so ever... I have an apt on July 8th to see the GYN specialist that took care of me last year during my bladder pexy - surgery.

(((((Rhapsody))))) so sorry that you're dealing with this. I too deal with these issues. My Gyn gave me shots to start my period then shots to stop them. Have they done a biopsy yet?

No biopsy yet.... but it will probably come after my apt.
I am shooting for the removal of my uterus if this is not early menopause.
... I was told I might go through menopause early.

As you said about the hysterectomythis was my only option two years ago and l can certainly sat l dont regret it one bit and it did seem to stop all probs in fact all l have to do is have what they call a vault smear every year. Good luck with your appoinment and make sure to get that biopsynot nice but essential

Rhapsody,

I was thinking early menopause too.

I had my uterus removed 20 years ago. They pop them out through your belly-button these days -- no wide smiles on your stomach.

I am sorry you have been going through such a rough time.

Had my apt - and it hurt!

Doctor took another pap smear, did a biopsy of the uterus, and did an internal ultra sound of the vaginal area.

Will have results in 7 to 10 days.
... they are checking for cancer among other things - we talked about a possible hysterectomy.

I just had a hysterectomy 3.5 weeks ago because of severe cramping for years. I can tell you that if at all possible have them do it vaginally. I have to question whether they even did anything. It doesn't even feel like I had surgery. There are no external incisions and I was out of the hospital and back home the next day. They took everything except my overies so I don't have to do hrts. I had some bad pains while in the hospital, but nothing that over the counter pain killers can't help. Good luck on what you decide.

I think I lost my last statement to you. I had a hyster about 3.5 weeks ago. They went through the vagina and removed everthing but the overies. There is no external incisions and it doesn't even feel like they did surgery. i was out of the hospital the next day and over the counter pain meds help just fine when I need them. Medicine has come a long way with methods and recovery. Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you.
