okay just so you all know I am a worry wart which don't help anything, bare with me ok.

I've been dealing with allergies and sinuses, I am not sure if it's a sinus effection or lingering sinuses, I am going to the drs on the 28.
havent seen a dr since last week of feb, and my blood workd and evrything was great. he did give me clarinex for my allergies.

does allergies caus sore throats? do you think it's a reason why I seem to clear my throat alot/often?
like I mention I don't want to jump to conclusions, and I am thinking I have throat cancer or something is severely wrong, it could just be simply allergies and sinuses right? should I worry.

I know that drinking red wine vinegar in water is a great way to clear sinuses whcih I have been doing, but what helps my throat.

I am so worried to go and think they will find something wrong with me, and even though it's been 5 months since my last visit, I don't want to freak out anymore. I freaked out so much with my dr. I don't want to do this all over again.

should I be scared? worried? any advice?

Yes, allergies cause sore throats and throat infections. I should know, I have been on antibiotics twice this summer for throat infections. My allergies never really clear up.

I take an allergy medication plus a decongestant and mucinex to thin the mucus. I suck on peppermints and when it gets real bad, sucrets. Saline spray for the nose is good, also.

My doctor assured me this is normal with bad allergies. He warn me to me not to let it get too bad before seeing him because it took three weeks to clear up the last throat infection.

Yep, this is absolutely normal. When your allergies flare up, your sinuses increase more mucous that drains down your throat irritating it. Constant allergy meds can help, allergy tests and shots are wonderful. I have the added bonus of having extremely large tonsils with deep pits that that bacteria loves to settle in and give me strep throat.

Something you can do at home when things start “clogging up” is use a netti pot. (You can pick this up at any Walgreens) This will clean out your sinuses and make things much more bearable. It’s a bizarre feeling but it really did help a lot. My sinus infections have decreased from nearly monthly to about four times a year. I have a deviated septum so I use the one that looks like an Aladdin lamp for the normal side and the squeeze bottle type for the deviated side.

As faylowell mentioned sucking on hard candy keeps your mouth moist and a constant stream of saliva to help the mucous work it’s way down without irritating your throat as much. Also keep in mind that these allergy meds dehydrate you so you need to increase your water intake.

Are you stuffy or runny? I ask because I must take the Clarinex D, regular Clarinex doesn’t really work for me.

I had thought about using one of those pots. I going to have to give it a try. I am still trying to find the right allergy medicine. One will work for a while then I have switch. The doctor has suggested having my tonsils removed. Yeah right, at age 42. May have to do though. Shy, you are definitely not alone.
