Marco, a tenant, brought back a virus, flu or what ever this is from the beach. Marco and his daughter had it first. Then AJ caught. Then I caught it.

AJ thought he was better so he went the gym and then out with his girlfriend. Today he is all sick again. He has this wonderful pomegranate juice that he was drinking straight from the container. I said I wanted some juice but would not drink any because he was drinking from the container. He said it doesn't matter because I won't get anything from him because we both have the same thing.

So the question is, if I poured some of the juice from the juice container he was drinking from in a glass, would/could I be reinfected. I say yes. AJ says no... Who is right?

Just because we have the same virus/flu/cold does not mean we cannot reinfect each other by drinking from the same cup. Besides, i wash my hands a lot. Not sure AJ washes his that often. Not that washing hands has anything to do with drinking from the same cup, Just is wise to wash hand often especially when sick.. or is it to prevent getting sick.. whichever..

Oh goodness, YES INDEED!

Has anyone been tested for the H1N1? I've heard that with this flu it's especially important to WAIT before going back to school or work for 2 DAYS after the day you feel well!!! (Meaning, don't go back to work the day you feel you can, but wait 2 more days!)

Please talk to your doctor and see what you should do.

There are many viruses out there. Each cold is a different virus and this is why many older persons don't often catch a cold--each time you have the virus your body learns to make the antibodies to fight it the next time.

So there is no quarantee that you have the same virus.

Thanks Sky.. Wow, I was right for once. Won't tell AJ tho.

No one here has been tested for the
H1N1. The name even sounds scary.

Actually I am getting better. I am not 'all better'. Guess since I am older I am taking things slow and making sure I don't overdo anything. When I feel tired, I rest. I tried to suggest to AJ that he too should go slow and not go to the gym or stay out late with his girlfriend. Guess he didn't hear me..

Hi Echoes..

Guess the reason I "think" we all have the same virus/flu is because I think I caught whatever this is from Marco and AJ. I don't leave the house so I didn't pick up anything from a store or another person. Shh.. I only venture outside in the front and back yard. I get too overwhelmed venturing further.

If we don't "get better" soon guess we will call AJ's uncle that is a Doctor and see what we should do'.

I can't say for sure we all have the same virus. But I can say we all have the same symptoms.. Fever.. nasal congestion....chest congestion. achy body.... only thing I had extra was the runs.. nasty stuff we all have here..

H1N1 is the swine flu virus ,,,,, comes with fever , fatique , sore throat and stuffed up sinuses and running nose .... .

Headache is added bonus >> not terribly severe though ....
I been battling it for a couple days ,,, and from what I have read >> re-infection is not a good thing .

This " bugger " will leave ya dehydrated to the max ,,,, Lots of water , and rest ..... I was working on a roof the other day [ yesterday ] 93 degrees and I barely broke a sweat .... so this fever thingy is high to boot ...

grabs hold of vertigo ,,,ooooooooooooK ,, Let's stand up now .. LOL.

WMD.

Oh WMD, I am soo sorry you are sick. Please don't over do it. You need to stay out of the sun and rest....

Yes, I had fever and it took two/three days to break. I was one miserable lil ole lady. And if I had even thought I had the swine flu I would have surely panicked. I was thinking more on bronchitis and sinus infection. I hear ya on "grab the vertigo". I was dizzy too. Again thinking it was sinus infection. Did not have the headache but boy my body ached so bad it even hurt to walk. We all had sore throat here, but again thinking it was from the sinus' draining.

Am doing much better since the fever broke. Still not altogether well. But I can now eat and even smell and taste what I am eating. I had plastered on my chest almost a full jar of vicks and I could not even smell it. Now I can smell again..So I can now smell and taste food again. This is progress.

Every time AJ or Marco visits the kitchen I get the ole bottle of bleach and water and spray down the cabinets and counter top and anything I think they may have sneezed on or touched. Won't tell them I do this, but hey, is good idea I think...

Sure hope you get well soon.. Nasty stuff ....this flu/virus.....

most cold viruses have similar symtoms.

and, fyi, according to the cdc, not everyone with H1N1 has a fever.

Hi Echoes

Looks like you know a lot about this stuff "viruses/colds"... But, ..hey.. I don't know exactly what all of us here had/have. I don't even know if it is the same virus as I am not a doctor. I just know we all got sick around the same time and whatever it is was really nasty stuff. Maybe we all had something different. Guess to know for sure would be for each of us to go to the doctor.

I guess there are all kinds of viruses and not surprised they would all have similar symptoms. The good thing is I am getting better. "wipes brow".. AJ just over did it too soon and is sick again. AM sure he will "slow" down, rest and let his body fight this nasty virus..

Thanks for the info...

To be honest it never is really good to drink after anyone. You really don't know what people do behind close doors. I know that I won't drink after anyone, not even my own kids. I know that my kids don't have anything, but I just can't do it.

Yes you can be reinfected.... a germ is a germ, therefore, it can cause you to become ill a second time around... and this fact is probably the reason my husband and I can keep a cold going on between the two of us for weeks on end (we just hate to stop kissing)

Hi Jerrymichele....... Actually I don't drink or eat after anyone either.. Guess that is why I wouldn't drink any of the juice that AJ was drinking from the container. I sort of complained that he was drinking from the container and in his self defense he'd say since we have the same virus/flu it didn't matter. ANd then I disagreed and he got angry and the tension was brewing so I turned my back and pretended he wasn't in the kitchen.........

I pretty much thought that when AJ was a little boy, that I had taught him to not drink or eat after anyone. And to cover his mouth when he coughed. Guess all that "information" flew out the window for him..

This morning I was making chicken soup and he comes strolling down stairs. Hungry and coughing. I asked him to cover his mouth when he coughed and he blew up at me. He keeps saying he does not feel sick and I can't get anything from him because we are both sick. Not that size makes a difference, but AJ is 6 ft and I am 5'1" and when he coughs, it is a big cough spraying the whole kitchen. Ok, I exaggerated a bit. I just don't want him coughing over everything and not even trying to be considerate of others by covering his mouth........ No.. he just has to spray his germs everywhere. Oo but he doesn't have germs.. He isn't sick. he is just coughing because that is what one does, cough for no reason.. And it is my imagination that I could be reinfected.. As I stroll back to my room, coughing,, shrugs shoulders....

Guess the bad mood has hit again.. uh oh run world..

We have had this crap in our house for a while to. I have tried everything to keep me from getting this stupid stuff, but now I have it. I tell everyone to cough and sneeze in their shirts, and to always wash there hands. Yesterday I took 4 showers just to clear my sinus's, but it just comes right back. Then I get really cold then hot. I can't wait until this is all over with.

Sorry that you are sick. Nasty stuff going around. I read online white vinegar in a vaporizer is good for sinus and chest colds, so I have the vaporizer and vinegar in my bedroom. Seems to help a bit....

Also am using a Homedics Brethe Air Revitalizer. When I first got this I was so upset because the solution smells like pine-sol and I hate pine-sol... lavender, citrus and lime don't smell all that bad. Makes the house smell so nice. The solution kills bacteria odors, pet smells and general house stink.

Then the chicken soup with tons of garlic is simmering in the slow cooker. Instead of veggies I just added fresh spinach, carrots, celery, onions and a few potatoes and chicken. This batch turned out yummmers... so the aromas of vinegar, lavender and chicken soup are filling the house. lol.. Enough aromas to make one sick or well. Depends on how ya look at it.

I thought I was doing better, but seems things are trying to go to the chest. So I've been sippen lots of tea with lemon. That seems to break up the congestion.

Am sick of being sick. I am with you as I can't wait until all of this is over. Hope you feel better soon.....

We are staring to get healther here. I have been running a vaporizer here for the past 3 or 4 days. I can't tell if it's working. lol, Yesterday I was sneezing so much, but it did take the pain out of my face. My bf ended up giving me a sinus pill and it worked. At first my face started hurting again, but now I feel better. Anyways I hope that you and AJ will start feeling better also. I have an 8 year old here to where I always need to tell him to cough in his shirt, and wash his hands.

Am glad you are doing better. AJ is my son and he is 29. If he was a teenager I'd be more tolerant. You may ask "what am I doing at my son's house". Sometimes I ask myself that question. Anyway I am here to help with yard work and to paint. Wish he'd get married. He'd be more responsible I think... The girl he is now seeing seems to "motivate" him. This is good> AJ is a good guy. We just butt heads a lot.
