I had a cyst removed from my scalp about 2 1/2 weeks ago. It scabbed over a couple of times, but never fully healed. Now, it's clear stuff and blood. I keep squeezing it out to try to get it all out and it just keeps filling back up! YUCK!!!

I think it's infected, but I may just be scared.

I am debating on whether or not to go to the "urgent care" clinic or wait until Monday to see if I can get in to my physician (the one who did the removal and is my family doc).

Is there anything I should be aware of or watch out for that might be worrisome?

I can't give you advice. You need somebody to examine the wound.

Do you know what kind of cyst it was? If it was a sebaceous cyst and part of it is still there the cyst can regrow. A sebaceous cyst has sebum inside of it; that's kind of like a skin oil.

Did they give you instructions on wound care like use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol to clean the wound?

Yes, it was a sebaceous cyst. He made a small cut, about 3mm long. It didn't even need stitches. He said that I just need to keep it clean and it should heal in no time.

It hasn't healed and hurts, along with the nastiness coming out of it.

I guess I need to see him on Monday.

Thank you for the info. I didn't realize it could regrow. Hmmmm

I went to the dr today and there was a piece of cyst still in there! It was causing a slight infection along with the irritation from the pieces of cyst trying to work themselves out.

He had to do the procedure again, but at least it hurt a little less than last time.

Anyways, I was doing the right things by using warm towel compresses, squeezing the cyst matter out and keeping polysporin on it.

Just wanted to update you all.
