For most of the last half of last year I was feeling pretty awful. Totally exhausted (after working pretty hard at the gym). Sleeping much of every day. Picking up and suffering a lot from every cold / flu that came my way.
I got my bloods tested and turns out I was low TSH and normal T4. Going to get a re-test to see what it is up to now as the test was done in November. I remember something along these lines happened three years ago when I was in a different country. The doc said I should get a retest because worst case I could have a pituitary tumor or something like that. The doc here said that my thyroid seems to be doing really well considering... So... Guess I could be 'subclinical hyperthyroid' (and develop Graves disease) or I could have a pituitary or hypothalamus tumor or damage of some kind... I feel... I dunno. Guess the second test came back okay last time because the doc seemed happy with the second test result (I think). I dunno... Yeah... I dunno what to say... Fatigue can be a symptom of both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism... And since depression and anxiety are commonly linked... I dunno what to say. Wouldn't it be funny if all this mood dysregulation over the years turned out to be mostly the result of brain damage to my hypothalamus or something from my fall on my head when I was a kid? Funny odd rather than haha. I dunno. Wait and see, I guess. |

You are in my thoughts... hoping your doctor can find some relief for you.

Thankyou. I've had another blood test and they seem to think that the doc should get my results tomorrow (though I don't know that I'd bet on it because that seems abnormally superfast to me compared to how long they took last time).

I don't know where you are located now, but a couple of days to get lab results is not uncommon. I usually have mine within 3 days.
You made me look mine up to see what my lab results were last time... I am on thyroid replacement. My T4 was 1.10 and my TSH 3.67. Usually my TSH is lower but if I've had a couple of weeks of some missed doses it goes up a bit. Definitely does affect mood and energy! |

Are you hypothyroid (so your T4 is low)?
I'm going to stop by the doc's tomorrow and see if the results are back. My doc is terrific but it is really hard to get an appointment to get in to see her. Hopefully they have extra appointments to discuss test results if there is a problem... Thanks for your kind words. |

I am hypothyroid. When I began my TSH was over 7.
Well, the 'normal' range on the lab results sheet that I have shows .76-1.76 as normal and mine is 1.10. And the 'normal' range for the TSH is .350-5.5 and I am at 3.67, but I know I feel better when it's lower, around or under 1.0. You probably know that the TSH 'normal' range has been modified for women in recent years. They found that men can feel perfectly fine at 5.5, but women feel better and have fewer symptom when it's lower than 5.5. Good luck. I hope you can get in to see your doc. If not, maybe you could get your lab results over the phone? |
