So how close together is too close together when it comes to periods? I have been regular at every 28 days for years and years. I mean, I could pretty much determine down to the hour when I would start. But things, they are a changing. My last 2 were at 25 and 22 days respectively. I know this is gross and I won't go into details other than to say I've noticed some color differences as well. I just turned 30, if that makes any difference.

I'm getting a little (a lot, really) anxious over this because I'm afraid it may mean I should go to the gyn. This is a terrifying thought considering I've only been once and I reacted very badly and had to be sedated so that it could be completed. I do not want to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

girllazy is NOT a happy camper!!

If you're feeling more stressed lately, that could cause irregularities. Also if you're eating less, or exercising more, that could cause your cycle to change a little as well.

Stress is a big trigger of irregular periods for me. No need to see a gyn either, at this point. Discuss it with your family doc. I didn't have a period for 6 months! No birth control, tubal ligation, but was really stressed, then I got it once and then skipped 3 months. Not pregnant, so my family doc said hormones outta whack and prescribed me 5 days of progesterone and boom I had a period and have only skipped once or twice since.

Stress, illness, hormones, anything could cause it. Just try to stay calm and see your family doc first. Period stuff

Good luck!

I wouldn't stress too much. Everything can effect period stuff from diet to stress to time. I even notice it with myself. If you are worried and think that you can go to the gyn then try to go. Or at least call a Planned Parenthood and just ask them their advice.
Periods do just suck though Period stuff

Wow, sounds like mine. I had every 28 days exactly too.

I had a trauma, and the result was no period at all, so yes sometimes stress can do it.

As long as your clocking them that is great. More frequent (and I am talking much more frequent then this) could mean an in/out patient treatment. Which is so easy, and afterward they are back to 28 days.

It must be hard on you to go, but remember too that the pap smears are really important once a year. You could then discuss your concerns with your doctor.

Maybe a female doctor would be more comfortable for you? You could also have a friend in the room with you while you have the exam. Most nurses will ask if you want them to stay too, which might make you more comfortable.

Hope you work through this so you will stop worrying. (Worrying might make it off balance too.)

Take Care.

After I turned 30 my periods changed so much. They were more painfull and more flow. Last year I had back to back periods and this freaked me out because just like you, I was very, very regular. Like clockwork. I had my period every two weeks twice in a row and had breast tenderness that lasted about 2 months. I went to see my Primary Doc and was referred to the OB/GYN. Turns out there was nothing wrong with me at all. I was stressed. I had lost my uncle to a horrible illness and having other health issues and a really hard time at work. All those factors together stressed my body out and I beleive that is why I became irregular.
I do think that you should see you Primary Doc about this because you really dont want to take any chances. I understand your concern. I have a female OB/GYN and there is always another nurse in the room as well. Please take care of you. Good luck.

I've been spotting continually since October, and I just had two full-blown periods two weeks apart. I have a Pap and pelvic on Monday. After reading this thread, I'm hoping it's something not too ominous. My doc told me I had a fibroid 9 years ago. I'm thinking that's the culprit. Any ideas if BCPs will control that? Hysterectomy is out of the question financially.
