1. Put 1 tsp. of apple cider vinegar, fruit juice or wine in a small bowl of water near infested plants to trap and drown adult gnats.
2. Tempt adults to lay eggs away from plants by putting sprouting wheat grains in a container next to the plants. Bury or burn egg-laden sprouts after a few days and repeat until laying cycle is broken (8-20 days). 3. Remove 1/4 inch of topsoil and replace with diatomaceous earth (the skeletal remains of marine algae) to kill the soft-bodied larvae. YOU did throw the cans OUT of the house, right? lol Gnats by Drou J. If you have a bottle of wine, leave about 1/4 inch left in the bottom. Then leave the bottle on your kitchen counter for a day or two. They are attracted to it, drink it and die! The bottom of your bottle will have a ton of dead gnats in it! 4. Use yellow sticky traps to lure and capture the gnats.

ROFL!! I figured you'd have a link for that, too!!
I got rid of a peach that was beginning to decay. Threw it out in the worm bed! Then I came back in and put all foodstuffs away, put the ferret and cat food inside a cupboard and then emptied TWO, count them ONE, TWO can's of Raid Flying Insect Spray into the house which had all the windows closed. I walked myself out the back door while spraying and closed it tight and stayed outside (oh yeah! I removed the animals too... before you ask!) for AT LEAST an hour! There were all kinds of dead nats on the floor and everywhere, but DAMN if I didn't start seeing them again in an hour or two after! ![]() Gonna do the wine bottle thingy tonight. There's a bottle of old wine that Jerry brought home from his sister's and I've been meaning to throw it out. Now I've got a good use for it! YAY!!

ROFL really ! I know it was a joke about a Martha Stewart list of what to do with leftover wine... and I had NEVER heard of having Left over WINE ! LOL but now I see how that could happen. You know, if you drink that wine, you won't care about having gnats!
