I had surgery to remove my thyroid last Tuesday and was placed on 125 mg. of synthyroid the next day. I was wondering how much synthyroid everyone else is on? I see the surgeon tomorrow and will hopefully have the final biopsy results then.... Thank you for your answers.

daisy, I take 0.15 mg of synthroid 6 days a week. Your dr. will do blood work after a certain length of time to get your synthroid regulated. Don't be surprised if this process takes several months to accomplish. That is no big deal, as it took me about 9 mo. of trial and error of blood work.
Congradulations on a successful surgery. You are over the toughest part now, time to sit back and cruise!! lol

daisy,

I started on 25mg when I was in my 20's then a year later was put on 50mg, then a few years after that, went up to 75mg-- where I stayed for about 12 years-- but now my disease has rendered my thyroid useless so a few years ago I was put on 88mg. One of my sister's had her thyroid removed and she is on the same dose as I am.

I believe it varies from person to person. In time, I'm sure you and your doctor will find the best dosage for you.
Good luck and great to see you back after surgery!

I'm on 75mg of synthroid. Been on that for about a year in a half now... it's helped greatly.

Well, I got the results of the biopsy ....... It was Hashimotos thyroiditis with a small amount of cancer. My surgeon has a call into the endo to see if I need to do the radioactive iodine. Depending on what the endo wants to do, I may ask for an increase of my synthyroid. Take care!
