ok... so... it's been on my mind for several years....the las r*pe... the guy was a drug dealer and r-ing his daughter and several others... wasn't married... this was 1989ish.... is there any chance he could have had AIDS or been a carrier and given it to me without it being found out yet? I know there's an AIDS test, but it would have shown up by now wouldn't it have?
even if i was a carrier? I remember once my dr told me my white cell count was really low....

I have not been tested. Should I? My immune system just keeps getting weaker and weaker....

thanks...

I would be tested if I were you, but through a private group such as a county site etc so that any negative test results will not be on your permanent health record. You can think about that later.

Generally, I think, any evidence of even HIV shows up within 6 months. Go get tested and hopefully that will ease your mind that that IS NOT what you're battling.

yeah - thanks! thing on it showing up within 6 months, is that it looks like flu-like symptoms, and I would have been 12 yrs old going into flu season... then, the website said, it can go away again for 10-30 years.
I am going to get tested today. I just keep getting sicker and no one can find a cause. I agree, i need to start ruling out everything! Looking at the site, there's a short list of symptoms:
· Once the immune system weakens, a person infected with HIV can develop the following symptoms:

o Lack of energy
o Weight loss
o Frequent fevers and sweats
o Persistent or frequent yeast infections
o Persistent skin rashes or flaky skin
o Short-term memory loss
Cough and shortness of breath
o Seizures and lack of coordination
o Difficult or painful swallowing
o Mental symptoms such as confusion and forgetfulness
o Severe and persistent diarrhea
o Fever
o Vision loss
o Nausea, abdominal cramps, and vomiting
o Weight loss and extreme fatigue
o Severe headaches with neck stiffness
and there's only 2 in each list i don't have. Course, this is true in most immune deficient illnesses (i have been listed with Adrenal Fatigue) and was supposed to be better within a year or two following my dr's treatment. It is now year three, she moved away, and I am worse. So it is time. Place opens in an hour.... *breathe Kiya*.

My thoughts are with you. Sadly with HIV you can be asymptomatic and still have it. Six months is when it would show up in a blood test. I hope you find out what is wrong. And that it isn't HIV. Good Luck.
Thanks for this!
