I posted in the chronic health part and thought, since nothing has really ben dx yet, here might be better.

Some of you might remember me having some problems along the lines of a tingling sensation in my right arm about 1.5 years ago. My doc gave me an x-ray and the tech said it was odd that my neck was a little straighter than it should be but nothing abnormal. So I got an MRI. That showed that I had some narrowing in my 5th and 6th vertebrae of my cervical spine and called it spinal stenosis.

Well now the last couple months I have noticed that my right eye goes blurry out of nowhere sometimes. Especially if I'm in a dark room and look toward something bright like the TV, the outside portion of my right eye will get blurry. I rub my eye, take my contacts out, put fluid in them and nothing helps. It's never my left eye, only my right.

And normally I would brush it off but all my problems have been occuring on the right side and I know that when something happens only on one side it could mean some bad things. Like right now I can feel a burning/tingling sensation in my right shoulder blade but not my left. Does this sound like a doc appt. situation?

I'm sorry you are dealing with that.
I would definitely go see your Dr.

I would also recommend an eye doctor, but an opthalmologist, who will be able to treat any eye problem you have.

It could be opthalmolgic migraines because of the stenosis.

An opthalmologist can often dx problems going on in the body because the eye truly is a "window to the soul" of the body.

Seeing an opthamologist (physician for vision, diseases of the eye, and surgery) and not an optometrist (vision only) to check your vision and the optic nerves is an excellent idea. Does the GP know about the eye issue too? If not, make sure he/she knows about ALL of your symptoms: with tingling in your arm, blurred vision, and stenosis of cervical vertebrae. See also what the opthamologist says and go from there. Best wishes.
Thanks for this!

Well I have an appt at 1030 tomorrow morning to see an opthamologist. I'm really scared that this could be MS. Autoimmune disorders run in my family already. My mom alone has RA and Lupus. I just have to try and not freak out between now and then.

What's the cause, do they have a clue; are you having more testing done?

"Some seizures may be the result of another medical problem, such as low blood sugar, infection, a head injury, accidental poisoning, or drug overdose. They also can be due to a brain tumor or other health problem affecting the brain. And anything that results in a sudden lack of oxygen or a reduction in blood flow to the brain can cause a seizure. In some cases, a seizure's cause is never discovered." http://kidshealth.org/parent/firstai...s/seizure.html

When I was 16 I started having these blackout episodes and was tested for diabetes. My blood sugar level was normal so they tested my thyroid which was also normal. I do have low BP. my average BP is around 110/60 which my whole family has a history of low BP. Then I started having tingling in my arms and legs so I had an X-ray which showed no slipped disk so then I had an MRI. The MRI was only on my cervical spine and just showed that the channels where my spinal cord moves through are a little narrower than they should be, which they called spinal stenosis.

I have been tested for probably over a dozen things with no actual diagnosis. I have been tested for diabetes/hypoglycemia, lupus, RA, carpel tunnel syndrome, slipped disk, thyroid problems.... the list goes on and on. Nothing has ever been abnormal in all these tests so they want me to go see a neurologist. Thanks for the link though.

Yeah, I think the more they learn the less they know

I have an adrenal incidentaloma:

"An adrenal incidentaloma is defined as a mass lesion found unexpectedly in an adrenal gland by an imaging procedure performed for reasons other than suspected adrenal pathology. It has become a common clinical problem as a result of the more widespread use of high-resolution anatomical imaging procedures [CT, MRI, ultrasound]."

http://www.cushings-help.com/adrenal-incidentaloma.htm

They discovered it when my appendix burst. So I had to have all kinds of tests to see if they were going to have to do something about it (it's benign) and go to an endocrinologist, etc.

Interesting you had blackout episodes though too with the tingling when you were 16. The eye thing and "seizures" makes a little more sense. Could just be all the stress you've been under lately too though. Hope the neurologist and his tests are helpful.

I talked to my brother and he also mentioned stress as being a trigger in seizures. I am currently on Lexapro, 10 mg, which is the lowest dosage. I don't want to go on any higher dosage or more anti-depressants to slow down the stress because I have tried and they make me feel like a zombie.

It really is just a relief to put a name with the symptoms. For almost a decade I have been bouncing from doc to doc trying to get answers without getting any. I just have to wait for the call from the neurologist and have already talked to my mom and she said don't worry about the cost, do whatever test they want. I know she is struggling with money since retirement so hopefully it wont be too much because neither of us have the money for a ton of tests. We have insurance but there is still as copay every visit which can get pretty expensive.

I'll keep you posted as to what they say. Thanks again. You're always so helpful

Yes, extreme stress causes seizures for me ... and at the very least tremors.

You can always try herbals, naturopathy, if you don't want prescription meds (which often cause more problems than they solve.)
