I can't seem to wake up these days. I stay tired all the time. I am doing so well physically and emotionally and can't remember the last time I felt this good except for the fact I could just fall asleep at any time. I have been gluten free for about 7 weeks now and my body should be cleansed of any traces of gluten left in me so don't know if it is that or something else. I hate feeling this way. I really don't want to go back to the doctor because there isn't anything really you can do for someone who is just tired I guess. I sleep almost 12 hours a night and take a nap during the day so I know it isn't really that I'm not getting to little and if I don't get that amount boy howdy am I crabby the next day.
So any advice would be appreciated... Jan

Is it meds related? Are you stressed? Dealing with any sort of mental illness that could cause tiredness? Are you anemic? Have you been eating enough? Do you have a proper sleep schedule? Are you drinking too much caffeine? Are you drinking enough fluids? Have you been doing more exercise than usual, or not enough?
What has changed recently that could be a cause? (Best bet is to go to a doctor though to be honest, they know a lot more about your medical history. I do understand being tired all the time though!)

Hi. Congrats on going gluten free - that's a great achievement. Are you eating any carbs at all? Carbs are important for energy. Can you eat rice or corn products (even corn or rice pasta)? Fresh fruit (including tomatoes)? These are good sources of energy. And, lastly, you are eating enough calories, right? Too few calories will result in your body going into starvation mode to conserve calories. A way to get around this is to have 2 days a week were you eat healthy foods but do not diet. In this way, your metabolism stays in calorie burning mode. If your metabolism is going into starvation mode, it's telling you to eat more. So, give it more and then return to your low calorie diet the next day or so. Again, being gluten free is a great achievement. Keep up the good work!

It might just be you're still recovering from your recent medical problems.

Very good advice from the other posters. Have you had your thyroid checked ((jbug))?? If not, ask your doctor to test your blood for this and any other things can could be causing this. I hope you feel better soon.

I think it is about time to have my thyroid checked again. I need to make an appointment with my doc and have it checked.
Thanks for all the ideas. Jan

![]() ![]() I am glad that you are going to go to the Doctor and get checked out. I am sorry though that you are having so much tiredness. I recall you recently had MERSA so maybe your body is still trying to catch up from that and needs more rest to finish fighting off the prior infection. I do hope you find more concrete answers from the Doctor though. Congrats on going Gluten Free, that shows that you have a lot of self control and I know you are doing all you can in your power to fight these illness' that come your way. Keep up the good work and hope that you feel better soon. Take Care, Chris ![]()

I am getting over having MRSA although my home health nurse says he doesn't believe I had it. I am bipolar so could be on a down swing. I do have sleep apnea and it has been awhile since I have seen that doctor. My thyroid hasn't been tested in awhile. I just got done going off the pill to help regulate my periods and that made me have a period every 2 weeks so I went off of that. I guess I just need to go see my doctor. I am going to go see my neurologist soon I will call him on Tuesday to get an appointment and will mention the tiredness to him and see what he says. Jan

jbug, it sounds like you have a few different things that could be adding to your tiredness. Are you being treated for sleep apnea? I had constant daytime tiredness and it turned out to be due to sleep apnea. It has improved so much since I started using a CPAP machine at night. I am glad you will be talking to your doctor about your tiredness. Hope you can find some answers.
