I am having an allergic reaction to something and we aren't really sure what it is. I think it might be the Pomegranate tea by V8 splash but not sure. That is the newest new thing I have ingested. So now I am itching all over. I have tried my allergy meds, taken a shower and used my Gold Bond lotion. So far the lotion helped a little but not a long term treatment. I am drinking lots of water, koolaid and stuff like that to flush out my system to get rid of whatever it is that is making me itch. I don't want to go to the ER because all they will do is give me a pat on the head and give me a prescription to an anti-itch med I already have.
I can't take a bath because my wound is still open so I can't soak in the tub. I can take showers though so if you know of a natural scrub I can make while in the shower bring it on. Jan

Have you started a new medication? Itiching is the most common side effect of new drugs. Can you take Benadryl or another anti-histamine for itching, or is that what your allergy med is?
A topical lotion that numbs, like some sunburn relief lotions or lanacaine might help. |

I have taken Benadryl, Zyrtec and Hydroxyzine. It is a bit better today so it must be getting out of my system what ever it was.
I haven't started a new med in awhile so don't think that is what it is. The newest thing I had done is drink the Pomegranate tea. Jan

Maybe it's the change in weather/humidity? Cold and dry causes itchies.
Have you tried mixing a teaspoon to tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drinking that? Does any area itch more than any other and have you tried baking soda on that? I've had trouble with sweat/itching with my "new" Vitamin D regimen and am working on that.

Have you tried a new soap or shampoo lately? Also, is there any particular body part that is the most itchy? Itchiness in the groin area is a signal of possible diabetes, as is itchiness of the feet. You mentioned having surgery lately - it's normal for wounds to be itchy as they heal. One of my secrets to alleviating itchy skin is to buy hair conditioner and, when in the shower, apply it all over and then rinse it off. Try to get one that isn't over-scented as it's possible to be allergic to fragrances. Sometimes, it requires a few applications but it generally does the trick and it's quite mild on the skin.
