I fell Christmas Eve, over at the my neighbor's trying to pick up my recycling that had blown into his yard the day before. A newspaper had taken itself apart under his large boat that's been parked on a cement pad next to his house (he has an end townhouse) since we moved here five years ago. I was under there getting the papers and got as much as I could/wanted and turned around to come back out and probably tripped on some jacks, my husband thinks. Anyway I went down and used my face to break my fall, and my left knee.

I cracked my nose and scraped it enough it needed six stitches and there's ugly scabs all down my face; I really look wonderful but there's no black and blue there, at least. We were just going to go to a walk-in place but my leg suddenly started swelling and hurting more than I could bear (I told my husband to quit making left hand turns with the car because that hurt :-) so we detoured to the local hospital ER. They x-rayed my nose and knee and then CT'd my knee; nothing was broken there but there's a lot of weird stuff underneath they couldn't make out because of the swelling. I'm supposed to make an appointment and go see an ortho tomorrow but we're going to have a foot of snow today and tonight so that's probably not happening.

I'll call my regular doctor to see if I can get an appointment Tuesday to get the stitches out, I want him to see all this mess anyway, be aware of it, and I might just ask him what we should do about the knee, if he has an ortho I should go to, let him manage that but I also might call the one the ER gave me the name/number of and see if I can see him Tuesday too.

Something changed in the night last night and I feel much better now, less pain and swelling has gone down. The knee is wrapped as if for casting and now the wrap seems like it's slipping/is in the way, I might take it off tonight. I can breathe again through my nose too and even was able to blow it this morning. Breathing has not been fun as I originally thought I had knocked my front two teeth out, I hit my mouth so hard, but they have never hurt, aren't loose, nothing, but the upper lip was cut and swollen and causing problems so not having all my nose for breathing and then having the mouth/lip all dry and uncomfortable too. . .

A Christmas to remember

I'm so sorry you got injured (((Perna))). Amazing how a simple good deed can go so wrong. I pray you heal and feel better soon, with no lasting affects.

I hope u use crutches and stay off the injury cause the swelling could return...Gosh I wish you speedy healing.I would leave the wrap just tighten it a bit.But then...I feel our bodies tell us what to do instinctively so you probably will be fine.Be well hon ~W~
