This morning when I was half awake I felt dizzy twice. Since I tend to have lucid dreams I thought I was dreaming and brushed it off. A couple hours ago I just finished showering and was putting a towel on my hair and I felt my head spinning. I immediately stood upright and then it went away.

I don't have a virus or flu, so it's not that. The only time I've ever felt dizzy before was once with the flu and one time in the morning when I was hungry - I'm the kind of person who can't miss a meal.

My husbands out of town till tomorrow night and we only have one car ATM - he has the car. I won't be able to see my doctor until Friday. I'm a bit nervous because of this and being alone with my girls. Normally I'm fine alone with them.

I've always been healthy with the same blood pressure for 20 yrs. My only worry is that I could end up like my mother who had a series of strokes. I don't smoke or drink. I told my oldest to call 911 if I do faint but I feel awful for putting this on her. I pray it something simple but I'm feeling very anxious. I'll be going to bed soon, so if I don't answer, don't worry.

Awww lynn I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you. I'm sure it's quite unnerving at best.

I know you say you aren't feeling ill, but I've had that problem when I wasn't feeling ill either and found out I had a sinus infection that was going into my ears and I didn't even know it. Strange eh? Allergies can even make you feel that way too.

Another thing you may want to have checked are your blood sugars. If they go too high or too low they can also make you dizzy and lightheaded.

Good idea to get to the doctors on Friday. Between now and then, take care of yourself...stay hydrated and eat 6 small meals daily so you always have something in your tummy.

Wishing you well!
Thanks for this!

Thank you Sabby and ILovethehardy's - since I won't have a car till tomorrow, I made a doctors appt for Friday morning. I have a good doctor - I'm hoping it's nothing serious like an ear problem, sinus related like Sabby said or even a sugar problem. As long as it's not a stroke related dizziness I can take it. It's so scary when you can't control your body. It happened briefly this morning when I turned to shut the alarm off.

I asked my oldest to stay home for today just in case it happens or I faint. I'll let you all know how the doctors visit goes tomorrow. I appreciate your concern - thank you.

Lynn, if it gets really bad, call your emergency number for the paramedics. You don't have to be transported but they may be able to help you out with some other ideas or maybe they can help figure out the problem all together. Don't take unnecessary risks. Your health is too important!

Take care ((((((( lynn ))))))))

Thank you ((Sabby)) - I promise I won't hesitate to call 911 if it's gets worse. I noticed my heart is beating a little harder than normal - similar to when you have a virus. Once I find out what's happening and I get the all clear......I'm going to start an exercise program again. I want to be around a long time for my girls

(((((((Lynn))))))

I hope that everything is going okay. I once had a thing like that. It ended up that a virus was going around and the virus made you dizzy. I felt totally fine except for the dizzyness. I went to the doctor and she gave me some pills to fix it. I hope it is something simply. TC of yourself.

Thanks for this!

Thank you ((Sabby)) and everyone who repsonded. I just got back and had a late breakfast. I didn't eat on purpose because I anticipated she would do bloodwork. I told her how I got dizzy laying down and standing. The laying down was a 'key point' because she thinks this is from the inner ear balancing area. She stills want to rule out other causes so she told me to get blood work and an EKG. Occasionally I'll get an irregular heartbeat - I've been tested in the past and it's not the dangerous kind but she still wanted me to get the EKG and I did that and the blood work already. She also will book a stress test later

She said if I wasn't having vision changes, that means I wasn't is danger of losing conscience(think I spelled it wrong lol) or having stroke symptoms. Since my mother had strokes I was worried about that. Now I know I wasn't going to faint and I don't feel frightened by it now. She said since it only happened during a 24 hr period, it mostly likely won't be a continuous problem. She said virus can upset the delicate inner ear balance. I feel sorry for people who have this all the time.

I'll let you all know if anything shows from the blood work or EKG. I feel much better understanding that not all dizziness means you're going to faint. I did faint once and it affects vision - everything goes black. I haven't had the dizzy feeling since then, so I feel less worried and assured nothing more serious is going on. Thanks again everyone

It sounds like you had vertigo rather than simple dizziness. I had Meniere's Syndrome where vertigo would come and be so severe that I'd throw up (and then have to sleep 3 hours, no choice, couldn't stay awake) and that's very scary as the vertigo doesn't go away quickly and if you're driving. . . (I was once, it was terrifying). But there are lots of causes of dizziness and vertigo; eyes, ears, etc. I found this which might interest you:

Thank you very much Perna for the link and sorry to here you suffered from this on a more serious level. Yes it really is scary and the first I thought, maybe I was having a stroke - I have a fear in the back of my mind, not wanting to suffer like she did. Now I know I would have been having other symptoms if it was a stroke. My doctor said since I was dizzy with my eyes close while laying down - it was most likely coming from the inner ear.

It seems like this was a fluke thing thank God - I dont like the feeling of not beng in control of my own body. I feel very sorry for people who suffer with this problem for a long time or chronically. What caused your vertigo?
