I need some help. I was diagnoised with h pylori back on march 25th, i had terrible stomach pain and I also have barretts esophogus, I took 14 days of medication (154 pills) and got and endoscopy last wed. the h pylori is gone and I no longer have barretts which is a miracle i was told i would alwasy have it and have to take a proton pump inhibitor for life, well, the pain will not go away, i do have irritation on my lining of the stomach which whould be healed with nexium or prilosce which i take all the time... its driving me nuts, my family dr and gastro dr are sending me for an ultra sound, since an mri is not covered to rule out gallstones in my ducts, i dont have a gallbladder. If that comes back fine (this monday morning) then i am to get series of chest and back xrays to look at my ribs, chest wall, aerota, heart and lungs. I am so frustrated with the pain. Sometimes it hurts when i eat, then it radiates to my back, my shoulder blades, my middle back. I wake up with pain in my stomach every night. All tests, blood, endoscopy all look normal, but the pain stays. I cant take advil due to some irritation on the stomach lining. Anyone ever have to deal with this problem? I appreciate any opinions!

I had a blocked pancreatic duct and had similar symptoms. That you have pain when you eat makes me think this is possible; when we eat, the job of the pancreas is to secrete enzymes that help with digestion.

Before I had surgery, the treatment for the pancreatitis that was caused by the blocked duct was to not eat. I could have limited clear liquids only.

Tylenol may be okay to take since there is no aspirin in it. What did the doctor suggest for pain?
Thanks for this!

Thank you so much for your well wishes, all results came back normal, i am being treated for muscular pain which my dr. thinks started with my ribcage, with the pain radiating into my back, i am on a strong anti inflammatory and after 1 week, i have no pain... thank God!! i still have acid reflux and a sensitive esophogus which i take nexium for, but its no longer covered by my insurance company, so i will start over the counter prevacid next week, hopefully i tolerate it well. I lost alot of time being in pain, not fun, thank you so much all for sending well wishes!!

I didn't have much luck at all with Prevacid. I tried a few times, but still got laryngitis (as the acid coming up irritated my vocal cords) a few times per week. My doctor was wonderful and wrote to the company saying that my Protonix was medically necessary. I had tried 2 other PPI's (protein pump inhibitors), which did not control my symptoms.

I do know other people with less intense GERD, and the Prevacid works okay for them. Hopefully, you will fall into that category. It's wonderful that my doctor wrote to the board of directors, to get them to change their decision in lack of coverage (for my needed med) ~ but it seems to be rare to get a doctor jumping through hoops for their patients. Thank goodness some still will jump through some hoops to bring their patients relief!

Very best wishes to you! Hope that you are able to return to work very soon
