I don't know where to post this, but I had to post it somewhere. My Mother is ROYALLY pissing me off! I have a history of back issues and pain. Last week it came back and bit me on the butt - BIG TIME! My primary doctor thinks it might be a pinched nerve in my lower back! I am in a wheelchair full-time and it is now VERY painful for me to be in my chair for any great length of time! I have what the doctor describes as degenerative disk disease and it basically means the discs in between my vertebra's are falling apart. This causes a narrowing of the space between them and thus can pinch nerves that lead down into the legs, etc. I am having an MRI sometime soon to determine exactly what is going with my back, in the mean time my doc. is trying medication to help me get through until the results of the MRI come back. I having an appointment with my pdoc today and I wanted to re-schedule it, but my Mother said NO! She says that I am NOT doing good because I tend to get up very early in the morning (around 4:30 am CST) and she thinks that is a real issue! I keep telling her , but to NO avail that it is the pain that keeps waking me up! I can't stay very comfortable for long in basically ANY position - sitting or laying down! To add to this nightmare, I used a medical transportation van that is NOTORIOUS for being late to pick me up from appointments (or for that matter getting me there on time!). Yesterday, I had to wait 1 1/2 hours for a return ride from my visit with my primary doc. I can't imagine what today will bring!!! If I have to wait like I did yesterday - I am just blow because I can't stand being in my chair for an extended time period!!!

Wow, I'm sorry to hear you and your mom aren't communicating well. You know, it's the mom's job to push her child to limits the child thinks they can't go.... you will always be her child no matter how old you get.

I think you have an excellent topic for discussion with pdoc...does he do talk therapy? Plus, it IS a good time to see the doctor writing the scripts...if he is doing this for your pain, then he needs to realize how much worse you've become.

There are other things I wish to suggest, but knowing how it is when in pain, I'll hold them for now....in case it would make you upset in any way. When I become upset, my pain worsens, if from nothing more than tight muscles!

Hope you benefit from today's push.

Sorry you are having so much trouble. I have chronic back pain from breaking my back some years back--the more severe pain you are feeling now is probably like that. Or worse. So I sympathize. Sorry your mother isn't more understanding. Hope your transportation van is more prompt this time!
