So tonight I've been sitting at the computer for hours to work on this website I am building for my family. Anyway, I noticed my eye started hurting when blinking. I get frequent styes, so I was thinking it was just another one of those stupid things. But then my eye sight got real cloudy, so I looked in the mirror, and there was this huge blob of white-ish yellow-ish gunk in my eye! So I got it out, and then noticed my whole eye is red and puffy! What the crap, it was like, instant symptoms :O And there was caked on dried gunk on my eyelashes, so I guess that was from more discharge and I got that off. But now gunk keeps coming out of it and it burns and is red and kinda itchy. Yet whenever I rub it (I know i shouldn't, but it gets so irritated!) more yellowish discharge comes out (not a whole lot, and is kinda stringy). But it is so weird! Suddenly just by sitting here at the computer, I have gotten classic symptoms of an eye infection :O its so weird.... Just wanted to share ...

Hi Kris,
Do you have allergies? that is what happens to my eyes when my allergies are acting up really really badly. I found they got red and puffy because of my itching them. When I first went into the doctor for it they thought it was an infection and gave me antibiotics, but then I went back when the antibiotics were done because it hadn't gotten better and they decided it was allergies. Whatever it is, I hope you get it figured out.

(((krisakira)))) - it's very important you to go to the doctor today. Pink eye is also very contageous to other members of your family. If you wear any eye makeup like eyeshadow and mascara, make sure you throw it all away, otherwise you'll re-infect yourself. If you wash your face with a wash cloth, don't let anyone else use the cloth. This won't go away on it's own. You need antibiotic eye drops. Avoid rubbing the eye and then going to the other eye. Put a fresh pillow case on for the next few days. Take a probiotic supplement or eat yogurt daily. Hope you feel better soon.

When my son had pinkeye, the doctor didn't want him in his office - it is highly contageous. But do call and see if they will call in some drops for you.

I had a an eye like that once and was told it was blepharitis - an allergy type thing and I had to wash my eye lashes with baby shampoo and cotton buds. But definitely best to get it checked out with a doctor, eyes are so precious. Cold tea bags are soothing - but being form the UK I would say that wouldn't I :-)

Thank you for all your input!

Googley - I have never had a problem with allergies, and it is only 1 eye, not both so I havent thought of the possibility of allergies. But you never know and thank you

Lynn - I don't wear make-up, so there's no problem there. I'll do the pillow case thing, hadn't even thought of that. I have disinfected stuff I've touched, like computer, light switches, door knobs, etc with lysol and have tried not to touch my eye at all.

Bebop - Strange huh? My eye was so bad last night, yet today it hasn't been as severe. Yes it is still red, and hurts some, and has a little discharge but nothing like it was last night.

Echos - That makes sense. I hope I don't spread it.

SoupDragon - I'm sorry to hear that! Haha tea bags... I don't even think I have any.

Well, guys, I have not gone to a doctor. I was considering it if it got worse or not better today, but it has died down some. So I am going to ride it out, unless it gets worse, then will consider the doctor once again.
