Talk about pain! Every time I get my period I get these hellish migraines. They start out in the back of my head and then move to the front and sides of my head! It's really debilitating me for one whole week! I keep taking stuff for them, but that only takes care of them for a couple of hours. I only take over-the-counter stuff but I'm thinking I should talk to my doctor tomorrow when I go. I don't know since it's only for a week straight that I have them, but really that's enough for me! Any thoughts on this?

You can... always talk with MD. But if you will take natural herbs, they are easier on system and work quite well: EPO evening primrose oil, Blue Cohosh, valerian, passion flower... honest! EPO and cohosh are great at PMS... also minerals and nutrients chromium, gla, cla, omega 3.. etc are important too.

Lexi, I suffered from those darn headaches for years. Hormonal changes every month would bring them on. Elavil is very good, for some, at abolishing those headaches. Hey...it's worth a try. My daughter, K, takes Elavil every night at bedtime. She is headache free now. Maybe it'll work for you too. Ask your Doc if this would benefit you!! Take care! Migraines

oh just remembered.. GINGER also works good for headaches.. ginger in any form (even the ground ginger in the spice cabinet... into hot water it won't dissolve all the way, but enough to work.. sip it like tea.) You can get ginger root too... there's someone who chews on ginger root all day long because her headaches are so bad...

I wanted to add just how life -altering Migraines can be. It's awful hard to make promises to someone that you'll be avaliable for a given time or day. You wonder if a migraine will pop up on that day. Some folks even label you as an unreliable person. I know that has caused a lot of hurt feelings on my part. Like..."The Spirit is willing but right now... the flesh is weak" I guess some folks can still operate on migraine days. I know I can't. It totally puts me out of commission for that day...and sometimes right into the next day. Wish some folks could be a little more understanding just how awful these headaches are..and that we would just do just about anything to refrain from getting them! Migraines

Sunglasses and a hat too. I used to get migraines that were triggered horribly by sunlight. Thankfully I outgrew them.
I recently read about period related migraines getting their own sub section in the dx world.

Sigh I just got a refill on my zomig and realized the price! WOW that's expensive! Anyway, my MD only wrote me a script for 6 pills with 4 refills... to last until NEXT SEPTEMBER??? Is she kidding? I just got one refill in 10 days after the original script (I usually have 6-8 migraines in 4 weeks or so) ... if she doesn't come around to my problem with migraines, I'll be drinking ginger tea soon too!

Well, the period is gone...so goodbye till next month, but I'm still getting minor headaches every night, which is definitely not normal. Oh, well. Take 2 Excedrin Migraine pills and i'm fine for another day...boy this is getting expensive...

I've had migraines each day for the last 4 days... but then, I'm not eating hardly anything... and then when I get the migraine, how can I eat? Stress, not eating right... holiday... "expectations" not having physical therapy (til Tuesday) all this adds up in my life. sigh.

for "female" migraines... try taking Evening Primrose Oil beginning as soon as you remember! The elements help with all the symptoms ... if you're up to it, try Blue (or black) Cohosh.. depending upon your age (younger is blue, I think) it also reduces or eliminates symptoms.

I'm wondering if my glasses need changing... as I am getting more migraines as I'm on the computer... or is it... I'm still getting 10 migraines in a few weeks, I'm just on the computer more lately?
