You know when you've had a problem for months on end, you've seen about three different doctors hundreds of times, you're going back and forth, back and forth, and you still haven't had a diagnosis yet?

ARGH!

Back in June, late June, I began experiencing pelvic pains. They were quite bad, resulting in me doubling over in pain, and situated right where I usually had period pains. However, at that time, I hadn't had a period for a while (I'm on Cerazette, a contraceptive tablet, which means I don't get a period), so I knew it wasn't period pains.

I still get the pains, and it's December now. Five, six months is a pretty stupid amount of time and it is beginning to frustrate me! Before, I was worried, because it's 'down there' and I was scared to death of anything being wrong, but now it's more of a nuisance. I used to get them up to five, six times a day - just sudden stabs of sharp pain - and they lasted for a few seconds, but now they've been happening less and less, but lasting a lot longer, as if it's about fifteen, thirty minutes. It hurts a lot more when I have it now, too.

A doctor told me it might be IBS, and tried various treatments, like antispasmodics, etc. He said that if they didn't work, I would have to have an examination because there could be something wrong with my ovaries/womb. I ended up seeing another doctor later on because of availability of appointments, etc., and he just said that I'd only have an examination if all other avenues had been exhausted, i.e. an increased dosage of the antispasmodic, different dietary changes, etc.

Again, because of availability, I saw another doctor (this was a week or so ago and by this point, I was getting annoyed and just wanted to see ANY doctor) and she said that she didn't want to do a pelvic examination because I've not had sexual intercourse. She's put me on IBS peppermint oil tablets which, coming to the end of my dosage, aren't working, and the dietary changes aren't working either.

I'm just getting so annoyed with it! It's like, okay, it could be IBS, but it's not been properly diagnosed so we still don't know what we're dealing with, and all the while I'm still having these pains!

Sorry to hear you are still suffering. Have you had an ultrasound? An ultrasound is even better than an MRI.. and will let you know if there is any mass or hang up in the area. Are you doctors sure of the side effects or effectiveness of the medicine... as maybe some of the symptology you were experiencing might still occur on the med? Certain hormones can cause pelvic pain... which you might even be allergic to also...

have you tried herbal remedies, nutrients? EPO (gla evening primrose oil, blue or black cohosh...) these work great for all types of hormonal suffering (even for men's ache sometimes)

What does your T say... could it be stress? (IBS is connected to incorrect response to stress... I "work" very hard at trying to not react internally.. as I KNOW this is real suffering, too!)

TC, hope you find an answer sooner than later.

Considering we (the doctor/s and I) don't even know what it ACTUALLY is, I'm still really unsure about trying this or that. I just want it over and done with, knowing for sure if it's IBS or this or that or something else entirely. If it's something the matter 'down there', I'd rather know now than go through a huge collection of medicines and techniques (diets, stress relief, natural remedies), finding they don't work, and spending ages on it.

That said, I'm desperate to try anything. Herbal remedies...do they come in tablet form?

xx

It may be stress, in which case I've no idea what I'm going to do around exam time Pelvic pains getting on my nerves!.

Sure thing... go to a health food store or a vitamin store (even some grocery stores carry some, but talking with someone at a health store will give you better info)... you can get herbs in raw form, liquid, tablet, gels, etc.
Also, I would suggest you think about a transvaginal ultrasound... it isn't a terrible thing at all, and gives lots of information!
Now, work on a plan to limit your stress. Write things down ..organize... it pays off to take the time now. Are you talking about school exams?
