don't know whats wrong, I do not feel depressed, have had a very easy couple of weeks, no stress, but feel exhausted the past week or so, not sleepy, but like lead is filling every muscle, brain is switched off, kind of numb, happy to stay in bed or go out bitty shopping or through the park, no energy to socialise though.
usually i am desperate for company, a good chat etc, now i am happy on my own. I have just got over three weeks of flu with a temp of 104 for over three days, am wondering if this is just the recovery from that or if it is depression setting in?? any ideas welcome!

It could be you're run down from the flu - have you had a blood test to screen mono or Epstein Bar virus. You should also request a blood test to measure vitamin D and whether you're anemic.

No easy answer there. A long illness can trigger depression so I wouldn't totally discount that. On the other hand a bad case of the flu can really kick your butt physically, leaving you feeling low on energy for weeks after the flu itself is gone. That can also leave you open to depression. I think that as you get strength back your mood has a very good chance of brightening.

Do keep trying with the Doc, but also don't discount the fact that you may be depressed. The first thing that I generally notice when I am falling into depression is the fact that I am always tired, and regularly sleep for England - my colleagues also notice that I stop being sociable.
My GP Nurse took blood when I said I was feeling exhausted and tired all the time, fortunately they came back clear, but that did mean the Doc upped my antidepressants which sorted the problem slightly...

Good luck with finding a solution - I generally find that fresh air being outdoors - even if it is only watching the world go by, will assist ...
Thanks for this!
