I am having a lot of pain with my gout. I am trying to watch what I eat and the doctor has me on meds but my joints hurt. Any suggestions? My husband hates that the pain keeps me from sleeping.

Hi ~ Have you seen an actual pain management doctor? That might be a good idea. He can help you control your pain thru treatments, medications, etc. Get a referral to one -- I sure hope it helps!!! I know how exhausting it can be when you don't get the proper sleep!

God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee
Thanks for this!

My husband's barber told him this morning that he'd been having a horrible time with gout but his doctor had prescribed a pill that made the pain disappear instantly.

I'll see if I can find out what it was.

That would be wonderful. I have friends that suffer with it, also. We would appreciate all the help we can get.

Donna,

Please forgive me. I called my husband's barber right after I replied here but he was already gone for the day and then I forgot to call the next day. I think all barber and beauty shops are closed on Mondays here but I will go write it on the calendar to call Tuesday.

I honestly forget these other forums are here.

I'll let you know something on Tuesday - I promise!!

I got the information, then couldn't get online today!

The barber says Allopurinol/Zyloprim has been an absolute miracle for him. His foot was so painful and so sensitive he couldn't bear to have a bed sheet touch it and he couldn't even think about standing all day. Two days on Allopurinol and he was back at work and doing great!

My husband was diagnosed with gout and it is awful..he takes the meds..be aware that diet has a lot to do with it...there are foods that trigger it..like beer and tomatos...if you google gout you will find lots of information.
