Yes, to some extent, pre-diabetes and depression are also linked. Also, there is a link between depression and asthma.
When you have diabetes, it's common to have cravings for foods and beverages you should not have. By not giving in to the cravings, it's possible to get depressed. Also, some of the symptoms of diabetes, e.g., low energy, are also symptoms of depression. One symptom leads to another. Diabetes is not an easy disease to live with. As a prediabetes sufferer, I also have a hard time dealing with it. I find that not giving in to cravings actually helps me feel better health-wise / physically and therefore makes me less depressed. Still, it's not easy dealing with daily cravings and other diabetes side effects. |

Hmm, diabetes doubles the risk of depression; only 20% of those with asthma are depressed too (I did not know that either, thanks unhappyguy). Apparently lots of chronic illness have depression linked with them, for the reasons you mention. I'd never thought about it. I have adult-onset asthma and don't think I'm in any danger of depression but my illness last week and having to go to the ER and feeling miserable, that might change my mind about it; I don't ever want what I had again!
