As read and interpreted by me from some pain clinic website regarding Ergonomic Posture/Desk Issues/Tailbone Pain Suggestions:
*this is meant to be funny! My tongue in cheek perspective...

===========================================

1. Adjust the height of your chair so that when sitting at your desk the following are true:
Your thighs are supported by the chair when your feet are flat on the floor and there is a right angle at the knee.

I'm short, 5' 0". In order to have my feet flat on the floor, I'll have to sit really close to the floor, my gaze will be upward toward the monitor. My neck will NOT like this. Hear me? NOT like this!
______________________________________________________________
2. When you place your fingers on the middle row of keys, your forearms rest on the desk.

On the desk? You must be kidding - they're practically in my lap as it is!
_____________________________________________________
3. There is no bend at the wrist (i.e. a straight line from your wrist, across to your hand and fingers)

Ha! When I place my fingers on the keyboard from being so close to the floor, I look like a little animal with my paws curled begging for treats.
_____________________________________________________

4. Adjust the back support so that when you sit upright the lower back is supported fully.
Does anyone recall Lily Thomlin sitting in that HUGE rocking chair on the old "Laugh-In" tv show? If not, imagine a 5 year old sitting in a grown up chair with their knees on the seat and legs stuck out in front of them and their chin glued to their neck.
_______________________________________________________________
5. If the curvature of the chair does not match your back you may requite an additional lumbar support.
What does this mean? I should grab a small child and tuck them behind my my back? Does a chair come with additional lumbar support that accommodates ME? Uh, no!
______________________________________________
6. Ensure there is at least a 2" (5cm) space between the back of the knee and where the chair seat stops

This is not practical. If I do that my head slides half way down the chair and my chin is now fused to my chest.
_______________________________________________________
7. The top of the monitor should be at eye level, meaning you keep your head straight and look down slightly with your eyes.
I would have to adjust my chair to accomplish this, and that would put my feet approximately 4 inches off the floor. Is giving up blood flow to my legs allowed?
________________________________________________________
8. Check that the monitor is directly in front of you
It's not behind me and
Nope, it hasn't run off - yet!
______________________________________________________
I guess I need to visit "Kids to Go" and check out the desks there. Or maybe I should get a desk with the monitor inside it like the news reporters use. All this just as soon as I win the lottery!

Oh you made my day with this as I laughed too when they gave me this list at work to make these changes; some the tips seem to contradict and were not feasible. However, at one point, learning some of them became a real lifesaver for me in the office and at my home office. I did have to make some changes to my furniture, but helped ease carpal tunnel, plus other strain, with the really long hours I used to spend at the desk and computer. It did and does help even if some of the things mentioned can be modified will reduce strain.

(( notz )) A footrest solves the height issue. A footrest raises the 'floor' so you can sit higher and your neck and arms won't fall off!
