I was in a minor car accident today. I believe it was my fault and I was talking on the phone, simply not paying attention.my parents always brought me up to take responsibility for my actions. I messed up. I learned from it. I especially learned not to talk on the phone while driving, even if it isn't against the law in my state just yet.

I am going through my insurance company so I will only have to pay the deductible, but still...it's still a lot of money that I don't have right now. My parents are willing to lend me money if I need it, but still.

I'm just an idiot. And my back kinda hurts...I took stuff and hope it will help. Just over the counter stuff.

Tomorrow I'm supposed to work the school graduation (college), ugh. All I wanna do is sit here and stay miserable.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Perhaps it's not a total loss as you seem to have learned from the experience. Experience is the best teacher. Please, please have an MD check out your back and neck to make sure to you do not whiplash or some other injury.
Thanks for this!

Thanks. Yea I guess you're right about the learning process. That's what I try and teach my students.

As for the back, yea I'm gonna see how it is. It was a fairly minor accident even tho my bak door won't open, I got a flat from going up in the curb? And the entire left side of my car is dented and scratched. It's painful to look at. Anyhow, I don't think whiplash would have happened since I got hit from the side- she was turning right and I didn't see her blinker on, so I passed her on the right- bam. Anyhow my left side is hurting. I don't have a great back anyhow and I just did back exercises and arm weights last night- so maybe I'm sore from that? It's only my left side tho

Hi my friend ~ It might be a good idea to have an MRI done, ya know? Since your back isn't your BEST friend -- it just might be a good thing to get it done. Make sure it's with and without contrast material. I hope your doctor will order it for you. But I really think it's best to have it done and be careful!

Let us know how it comes out. If you can't understand the report, post it here, and I can help decipher it for you. Hugs, Lee

you can get whiplash from being hit side on, i got it when my mobility scooter tipped sideways off a curb! I was 5point harnessed in and doing 6 miles per hour at the time... it took well over 6 months for it to stop hurting as i had no choice but continue to use my harness as it is what keeps me upright!
so please get checked out. better safe than sorry!

If no one was seriously hurt, and only metal was smooshed and glass broken, and your self-respect bruised, then all will be well again. Distraction from the focus on driving can come in many forms. Today a pickup truck was weaving in the lane 2 cars in front of me; when I passed him, he was reading as he was driving. Others eat, look for things, or just get lost in thought. No one means to have an accident.

I'm glad you are okay. You will likely remember this for a very long time, and it will keep you even safer

Some people can do some insane stuff! But reading while driving? That's bad! And Yellow- I'm sorry to hear about that, by I'm glad you were okay after a while. That sounds painful.

Luckily, yesterday and today were okay. I didn't even need to take anything. I'm going to start back at the gym today doing the elliptical I think. Something to start building up my cardio. I think it will help for me to improve my back strength too, eventually.

Do yourself a favor and go see your primary MD. Low impact auto collisions can harm your body, especially side impacts.

I feel like I see my primary all the time tho, and nothing is ever wrong with me. She already thinks I'm a little extreme, I'm sure

Just got the estimate...about $4,000 (at least) and two weeks with a rental car. Could be worse I guess, but wow...way more than I thought.

It is so hard to be without a car. I hope they get it done sooner than expected!
