Hi Myzen,

I take script immodium. I don't care what they say, the over the counter stuff doesn't work as well. I think it's the filler. I also take acidolphilous, and probiotic called Flora-Q. It has helped tremendously. Probiotics are the good flora that are supposed to live in your intestional tract. Then I also take my Ulcerative Colitis med which contains sulfer to heal the ulcers. I also have vistaril, which is such a help. It is an anti-spasmotic, it calms me if I'm not near a restroom and it helps with the teribble nausea. I only take it in cases of extreme emergency.

Feel free to ask me anything anytime.

Hugs,

Jan

Wise, the chlorine and other gunk in tap water makes the IBS worse. I use a water filer on my tap and that works great. Be sure and make your ice cubes out of filtered water, also.

Hugs,

Jan

After quite a lot of consideration, I thought I would add these tips.

If you have any form of IBD, (Irritable Bowel Disease):

1. wear, (and carry), extra protection panty liners or pads. (This would also work for gentlemen.)

2. Carry baby wipes in a ziplock bag.

3. Carry an extra set of undies in a zip lock bag. You put the soiled undie in the zip lock bag when you change.

4. You can always carry a change of outerwear and even an adult diaper if you are having a really hard time.

5. When I was able to work, I carried a complete jean or short outfit along with a pair of tennis shoes. If I had to change my dress or skirt, I just explained I was going somewhere after work and needed to change or that I had spilled something on my outfit.

6. Big purses, backpacks, totes and even briefcases are great to carry your necessities with you. Your things won't help you when a crisis happens if you try to hide them in the trunk of your car.

I hope this helps.

Jan

Hi Jan,

Thanks for that; I'll give it a go with the probiotics I think. I'm not so bad at the moment, so I could experiment a little.

Good thoughts, M IBS

How do you tell if it is IBS vs. something else? I think I said before that some of my anemia meds are known to cause the trots -- but it doesn't seem to matter what I eat, I have them all the freakin' time. Today I had a ham sandwich, some vanilla wafers, and a bowl of Special K with strawberries, and I've been running back and forth to the john all day. Dairy, fresh produce, canned stuff, no matter what -- it gets me. I don't know what to do!

Talked to your Doctor they can run some tests to see if you have IBS .Try cutting back on some of the foods you eat ,to see what is making you run or it just could be that it isn't a agreeing with you. IBS is a tril and error thing. you see what you can eat and then pay for what you shouldn't be.

Hi Candy,

A gastroenterologist can run tests on you to see what, if any type of IBD you have. Be sure and ask for a blood test for Celiac disease, which is pretty common. It's an allergy to wheat. You need to go be checked so you can get your life back.

Hugs,

Jan
