I have a cardiology appointment June 12 for an echocardiogram and to be fitted with a holter monitor that I have to wear for 48 hours. I'm just wondering what it'll be like.

Has anyone had to wear one? Is it really uncomfortable? What's it like trying to sleep with it on.

Anyones' experience will be appreciated.

I wore a Holter monitor for 24 hours. It wasn't too uncomfortable. The set up did not prevent me from doing anything, except for showering. Dressing was a slight challenge, due to the wires.

Placing the electrodes was an interesting experience. The technologist cleaned the areas with rubbing alcohol and rubbed them with what felt like sandpaper. The discomfort was slight. (I think this is done to rid dead skin cells that can cause an electrode to come off.) She attached the electrodes with some kind of glue and tape.

Sleeping wasn't the best, because I was afraid the electrodes would come off. I ended up sleeping flat on my back, rather than on my side, with the monitor beside me.

I agree with the other poster and had to wear one because I get the harmless kind of irregular heartbeat. They put the electrodes on and you wear the monitor. I ripped the electrodes off in my sleep and had to redo it later. Its not bad at all.

I've worn one a couple of times as I have heart problems. Usually I have them on for a few days at a time. I wouldn't say its uncomfortable however it is a bit of a pain in the *** with all the wires and such, I had the electrodes fall off like Lynn during my sleep and I felt a bit constricted/wasn't able to sleep in my usual position which didn't help my sleeping pattern but apart from that there was no issue with it. I hope everything's alright and nothing too sinister.

I didn't have any problems with mine. The electrodes stayed on, and all was good.

I doubt you'll have any problems. Best of luck! Hugs, Lee

I had one for three days. In my opinion it plan sucked. I wanted to rip the stickers off they irritated my skin and was very itchy. I couldn't shower and I kept forgetting to press the button every time my heart flumped. If your skis is sensitive, ask for special stickers for the electrodes. I actually had welts on my skin where they were when they were taken off.
