Beth, if it gets too bad, try to go to the Urgent Care. This time around ask them about whirlpool therapy if they didn't try it before. It, in addition to the proper antibiotics, can work wonders.

Hugs,

Jan

Ohhh dear God Jan .. I am scared to death of that whirlpool therapy! My mom had that when she had cellulitis on her leg and she ended up having two toes amputated. Cellulitis is back... I dont think I could do that. I' m sorry I know you mean well. That is one HUGE reason why this stuff scares me so much. I saw it take so much out of my mom. Between the diabetes and the horrors it causes... this crap took her from me. I am terrified of it.

Its an infection of the skin and skin cells . If left untreated. it can go into gangreen . Which can lead to amputation . Diabetics deal with this alot because they dont heal well. You get a hot spot with it , It can come from a scratch , bug bite~ especially spiders, anything that lets the right germ in there fester. It also gets into your bloodstream and will spread. Like downward in a leg. Its not pleasant to look at.

*******If your sqeemish dont look further ok *******

I am not one who posts stuff like this. But here is a small section of the cellulitis I had last year. Its red , blistery and hot to the touch ~ feverish. And it was very painful. Cellulitis is back...

Can you really delay beginning antibiotics? Have you been able to get in touch with your doctor? I know it's a problem with the infection being in the lower skin layers. ....wouldn't the whirlpool (whether hot or not) help with circulation in the long run? Let PC know how you are on this. TC

A friend of mine had this. she was given antibiotics and told to use ice packs and within 2 days it was gone and she has not had a reoccurance. Her doctor told her she probably won't get a reoccurance because she is not in the at risk group for reoccurance - those with other chronic health problems.

Hang in there as long as you are on the antibiotics it will be gone in a couple days. Since you had this before you already know what antibiotic works for you so ytou should be able to contact your physicians office to talk to whoever is on call or visit the ER and either one will give you the antibiotics needed.

No doctors are helping. I am soooo PO'd ! I have took what antibiotics I had in the cupboard here at home. It seems to have subsided for now. I hope its gone. We'll see. Thanks for your kindness and support here. I did try to call them. But after one specialist told me to just put neosporin on it .. the others wont go over his head to do anything now. Thank goodness I had enough sense to go ahead and take those antibiotics ..otherwise I'd be up a you know what now. I just dont understnad this one doctor. Never ever have I been treated like this by him.

Doctors here try not to go over what other doctors say too. my regular doctor told me that was for two reasons - 1 too many hands in the pot ruins the stew, and 2 its been known for people to see one doctor after another and sell the medications for money or that persons drug of choice . Now that everything is basically computerized physicians now have a way to cut down on both. When your normal physician comes back telll him what happened and ask if he can write in a standing doctors orders as to what needs to be done when this happens again. and have him make a copy of his statement to give to you. That way in the future when this happens you can go directly to the urgecare or after hours clinic or the physicians office of the doctor covering calls and all you need to do is give them a the statement and tell them what physicians office to call to varify it.

Or you can fill in a form here its called Declairation for Mental Health care. in this form is listed all my diagnosises (mental and physical), allergies, treatments and my representatives phone number. It is signed by me and my representative and copies went to my physican and therapy agency after my physician read it to make sure I had medication and dosages right and so on.

Now when I need treatment for anything it is spelled right out I no longer have to worry about my health care.

A few days ago I had some problems and called my physician and found out he was out for the next two weeks. I asked for an appointment with the person covering his clients and when I went in I took that paper with me, Explained my problem and let him see the paper and let him know there was a copy of this in my physicians file. It took about 5 minutes and he was back with the medication that I needed.

Advance directives like the Declairation for Mental Health care is legal and binding if I am conscious any and all USA doctors must follow it and if I am unable to make my decisions for myself then they have no choice but to contact my listed representative. My representative Must follow what is in the form. If anyone wants to change any of my treatment plans without my approval or my prepresentatives apporval they must go to court and show how and why the treatment plans in the form are not in my best interest.
