I've been feeling pretty gross the past few days: nausea, feeling tired, stomachaches, insomnia because my stomach makes me uncomfortable.

So I sucked it up and decided I should try to find a doctor. I haven't gone to the doctor since I was in high school and had to get a physical for sports. So it's been more than 6 years since I saw a doctor. I don't like doctors, but I'm really feeling bad and I'm getting kind of worried so I need to find one.

My problem is that I've moved in the 6 years since I last went to a doctor and have NO IDEA where to go. The place my husband goes is only accepting new patients for their male doctor (not one of the THREE females on staff, and I want a woman), and I tried calling a couple of other places but they are closed. Most of what else I can find online has very limited office hours, which would be difficult to coordinate with my work schedule. I don't have any female friends who live in my new town to ask for a suggestion.

There is an "urgent care" walk-in clinic in my town, but I really don't want to go there because they just assign you a random doctor and I'd probably end up with a male doctor (which I do not want). Anybody have a similar experience? How did you find a good doctor, aside from Googling and hoping for a good result?

Hi Dontstopbelieving, Ive gone to my urgent care clinic when I cant get in with my regular doctor and you can request a female doctor and hopefully they might have one. Also, they usually refer you to someone else after a the initial consultation, depending on the problem, mine was stomach problems along with allergies. Maybe it would be a good idea to do this and then ask them for a list of female doctors they could refer you to. Also, just a thought if the women doctors aren't accepting new patients, ask if you could be put on a wait list and see the other doctor until the doctor of your preference is available. With me I am kinda bold, I might ask to leave a message for one of the doctors asking if they could make a acception and and take me as a new patient. Hope you feel better soon.
