Went to the opthamologist the other day for my yearly checkup. I knew my vision had gotten worse and was doing some strange things, but I didn't realize how much of a difference there was from the last time... after going through all everything the poor tech was updating my information for like 15-20 minutes. It was a bit suprising to find that my prescription almost hadn't changed at all. But getting examined by the doctor was not pleasant. It seems that I have deposits on my optic nerves, and in such a high volume that my optic nerves are getting compressed! Now I have to have a bunch of nerve function tests next week. Not looking forward to that.

It is good you went in to get checked and will be following through. The optic nerve tests are very simple and easy to do. It is nice they can do them next week as well so you don't have to wait long for them and they are staying on top of things for you, a good sign. I will be hoping for the best. Hang in there meanwhile! (((((((Umbral Seraph))))))))))))

Do you know what the optical pressure reading was on each eye? I'd be interested in knowing that. Did they tell you what it was?

I don't know an actual number for the pressure but they said it was alright.

It's just if your optic nerves are being COMPRESSED, then the pressure would be elevated. I was an optician for many years, and had to do the optical pressures on the patients for the doctor, so I know what I'm talking about. Anytime anything is putting pressure on the optic nerve, the pressure is going to go up. So if your pressure are normal, I don't see how they can say that these deposits are at such a high level that they're compressing your optic nerves. And I'm confused about these "deposits?" What are they talking about? We normally don't have "deposits" in that area.

Yeah, I know it's weird. I've looked for info, but the only thing I found was that it's rare to get deposits (>1%) and they generally don't cause vision changes like I'm experiencing.

I'll just have to see what the test says.
