I waited like 2-3 weeks to see oncologist and now he springs it on me he wants to do surgery next wed. Whhaaaat? And my last dr assured me he would know all about my trauma history so i would just need one exam. Umm no. He didnt. Before i go back on Thursday i might call the office to tell them. Especially as i might not have anyone to go with me. My sister came from out of town to meet me for this appt. And they'll probably want to know in thehospital because if someone comes in my room at night good chance i could freak. I hate this. Everything feels out of my control. So many people i don't even knw are doing things that i don't like and feel so similar to my abuse. I don't want to be touched.

Do you have a therapist to help you through this. It sounds very traumatic to you. I don't know your history but I would hate for you to have to go through this alone. I'm glad you have a sister there to support you. Hospitals are not known for there understanding that some people can't handle the way they do things. I'm really sorry you have to go through this. You might ask to speak with the hospital advocate. I think most hospitals have them and they will talk to you and help you through the process. Good luck to you.

Get a second opinion--even if it's online advice--from someone who isn't a surgeon. (Surgeons think surgery is the solution to everything.) There are good alternatives to cancer etc., just so many are making good money doing the big radical efforts. If it's not cancer or if it's not grade 4...then it may not be so urgent and he's just fitting you into a cancellation spot so he doesn't lose money perhaps?

Sorry, I am cynical. I find being pushed into what everyone does quite invalidating. Plus you should know I won't do traditional remedies should I be told by my oncologist that I need surgery, radiation and/or chemo!

Breathe. Delay upon the doctor's part might not require an emergency decision on your part.
