I was just accepted for medicaid health insurance. My first priority was to get mental help for myself but a few weeks ago I went to the emergency room (before medicaid) because of severe pain in my sides. I was informed that I have the beginning stages of endometriosis as well as cysts on both ovaries and my cervix. This may be my only opportunity to try for a baby girl. They told me at the hospital that the best way to stop the process from furthering is to get pregnant. I am terrified that being on medication for my mental health will affect any potential pregnancies. I am on resperdal 1mg now. I want to have a baby girl some day, want my kids to be close in age and scared that I could lose my chances of another child. The other hand I have waited all my life to know what is wrong with me. My mental health has torn my life apart and changed the person I am and is interfering with my family, ability to function properly. Couldn't I just do the counseling and get my assessment for now and do the medications after the pregnancy when I finally do conceive? Please help, I need some good advice. I don't know what to do.

You have the final say in this. I mean, I suppose it all depends on who you see and whatnot, but I know that here I have been able to tell my therapists/psychiatrists/doctors whether or not I will actually take the medications and which ones I will take. I figure that if you're managing without them, then it doesn't hurt to go awhile longer without them. Again, you are ultimately the judge of this.

I would go see a good OB/GYN, not the ER department and have your endo checked out. It actually can get in the way of you getting pregnant and be difficult for the baby, not the other way around: Is it true that pregnancy can cure endometriosis and menstrual problems? | BabyCenter

I agree with Perna. Get the endo checked out; you will likely need surgery for it. The good news is that after surgery you can have a better chance of conceiving. In the meantime, get some MH help and meds if you need them. Also you might find that knowing the cause of your pain and getting help with it will help your MH.

Definitely go to an OB/GYN to discuss further.

I had pretty bad endometriosis on one ovary and was able to stave it off for a few years first with painkillers and later with birth control pills.

I think it is important to work on your physical and mental health before conceiving.

I went to my OB/GYN 2 days ago and she wasn't concerned that I had endometriosis, she saw nothing in the papers from the ER to alarm her. The cause of my pain.... my mirena IUD which was removed that day too! I hope all the symptoms clear up and go bye bye but so far no pain... I will never get one of those things again. If I do birth control again, it will be the patch because I will have control over it if I do.
