Don't be concerned - you've likely had an allergic reaction to the acidity of the lemon juice. That happens to me with many fruits. My throat, and sometimes the inside of my mouth will burn and the feeling is like having hives or something. It's really annoying. Drink water...or even something that counteracts the acid, like milk or yogurt and give the allergy time to pass.

raging vortex,
How much lemon juice did you add to your glass of warm water? Too much and it can irritate your throat. If the water isn't warm, the acidity from the lemon juice will irritate your throat. Don't add more than t teaspoon of lemon juice to 1 cup of warm water. Also, to breakup the acidity of the lemon juice, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey to the 1 cup of warm water and 1 tsp of lemon juice. Also, if you have a sore throat before you drank the lemon juice, then its possible that the lemon juice's acidity irrigated your sore throat. Never ever drink warm lemon juice when you have a throat infection. The acidity from the lemon juice will irritate your swollen tonsils and you'll get the burning sensation. Happened to me a few times. So, now I just avoid drinking lemon juice. |
