I finally got at attorney to help me with my disability claim since I was denied the first time. Everyone says that most people are denied even with a diagnosis. So I decided to quit listening to my family and get an attorney. I meet with him tomorrow. I'm nervous, but excited to finally not be going this alone. =)

Yeah, I have been turned down twice. Attorney and I are now waiting for a hearing with the ALJ, which I hope will be the last of it. Unfortunately I may not get to go to court until some time between June - December, and I filed for the hearing December 2006. Got an attorney Good luck and let us know how it goes. If I can be of any help PM me.

Ah, so that's why it's an automatic denial? Because they're backed up? Crazy....the lawyer I got has been around since I was a kid, so I hope he's good!

Ok, so I saw the attorney today. I actually almost wanted to see his license to practice law.....he was so freakin honest!!! He told me that about 40% of people at the first stage of appeal win their case, so he didn't want to take my case just yet, because if I win without him, I will get all the money. He said in the past he took on 6 cases at the first stage of appeal just to see if the people's case would go quicker if they had a lawyer, and they didn't, so he said there's no point in having him at this stage. He said if I have any questions at any time, to call him for free, he doesn't care if I call 10 times. He told me what to do next and that was just to fill out the appeal paperwork. He said they may be telling me to have some tests done. And if they deny me again, to call him. An honest lawyer who won't take my money until I actually need him to do some work. Imagine that. So I filled out the paperwork and turned it in. Now it's more wait and see. He said it can take up to 6 months.....So I'm gonna be on a quest to try and find some part time work that I can handle. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm so glad you found that lawyer. (Is he married?) Got an attorney

Can you not draw blood at all anymore? Could you do just partial shifts or weekend shifts?

Hugs,

Jan

Haha, don't know if he's married. No, I wouldn't feel comfortable drawing blood ethically. I have involuntary muscle spasms in my legs and arms and my hands don't cooperate. My depth perception up close is no good for hitting veins. I could injure patients or stick myself. Can't do it. That's what I wrote on my appeal because they denied me saying I could still draw blood. Ha, let me stick them and see how they feel about it!
