When I was in the shower Thursday night, foamy shampoo got in my ear and I couldn't hear for a second. I thought it would go away but today my ear is still clogged and won't pop. I have anxiety about my ears and dizziness so I'm probably making this more than it is. Anyway, is the shampoo just going to come out by itself? Thanks for your time

I imagine it will. maybe it just formed a foamy layer in there and with your next shower it will dissolve and come right out. if it doesn't pop within the week it would be worth a trip to the dr. it could just be a coincidence and you have something wrong. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

or try a 50% water 50% hydrogen peroxide solution and use a rubber bulb to pour it in your ear.
The shampoo probably loosened some earwax and caused a blockage |

Yup, good old cheap peroxide from the drugstore works wonders. It fizzes and feels weird but doesn't hurt. You can buy stronger solutions made just for ears, also peroxide, but I'd start with the cheap stuff. Warm it slightly to just below body temperature and it is less shocking when you pour it in.
Then flush with a stream from one of those ear irrigation bulbs as said above. You will probably be amazed at what comes out, even if you clean your ears regularly with q-tips. It's gross. You will hear so much better afterwards, and have a feeling of "opening up" your sinuses, etc. |

Thanks for the replies. I got this kit called dr methas ear wax removal. It comes with ear drops and a bottle with a nozzle that sprays out the loose earwax. Do I have to use the spray? I heard it can cause vertigo and I definitely don't want that.

hmmm I guess you could try flushing without using the spray.
Why would the spray cause vertigo? |
