I'm going to be making an appointment with my doctor for next week to discuss my allergies, she prescribed Loratadine (generic Claritin) which used to work for me but has been doing nothing to help me this time around.
What do you take? I have watery, itchy eyes. Congested in my nose, sneeze all the time, wake up each morning with a sore throat. It's all day every day and its driving me crazy. I'm just curious what other people take to help with that.

I usually take otc pills with fexofenadine in them. They generally do a pretty good job of helping me with the allergy symptoms.

Thanks for the reply JellyBean!
I think I may have a bad cold on top of my allergies. My allergies are usually bad but never this severe.

I take the generic for Zyrtec and the generic for sudafed. They make zyrtec with a decongestant but it is WAYYYYY cheaper buying them separately. Just looked at my bottle and it's cetirizine hydrochloride.

I usually pop a couple Benadryl at bedtime, as much for allergies as for help sleeping. Claritin never worked well for me. I remember an OTC nasal spray called Nasalcrom or something, and it worked wonders on my hay fever. In the past few years, my only allergy symptom has been asthma, though. No more seasonal sneezing for some reason.

I take Singulair every day, & I just rotate through the OTC allergy meds when I feel they stop working or aren't cutting it. Right now I'm not really taking anything OTC daily, but when I do take something, it's the Mucinex Allergy med (which is really just Allegra, if you ask me). Usually I take loratadine. A long time ago Alavert used to be a godsend for me, but at that time, I couldn't afford it anymore, so I switched to generic Benadryl, which is usually super cheap.

I used to take Claritan and it, too, stopped working for me. I'm allergic to Singulair.
I use Zyrtec daily now and Benedryl when I have bigger symptoms (like welts). When they were very bad, my doctor had me double the Zyrtec for about a week or two until things got better. Flonase was good but not strong enough for me, so I was upped to Nasonex. I also take allergy shots weekly, and have limited dairy which seems to help a lot. Allergies suck lol.

Zyrtec or its generic every morning. If there really bothering me I'll take another zyrtec at night or take some benadryl. Allegra seems to work pretty well for me to, but it only seems to last 16 or so hours instead of 24, so when I used to take it I would wake up with a stuffy nose and headache or have to take benadryl before bed.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I just got back from the doctor. They prescribed Zyrtec and Singulair, which I will pick up at the pharmacy tomorrow and start taking. Hopefully it helps
