For the past few months, when I am laying or sitting down. My body starts uncontrollably jerk. I cannot stop it and when I do try and fight it, I get this pain inside of my body and its a really uncomfortable feeling. But I am totally aware of what is happening. I just can't stop my body from jerking. Do I need to be worried? Am I having some kinda sezuire?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Twistergirl

I am surprised that you have not sought medical attention since this started a few months ago. I can't tell you if you are having a seizure or not. If your body does anything like you say then I would definately call your doctor right away. Some meds can cause your muscles to contact when used long term but shaking is not normal. It could be a metabolic problem as well. Hope you seek help and best wishes.

I hope you'll see a doctor. It could be some type of seizure or pseudo-seizure. It could be a harmless hypnic jerk, something many people experience when they're falling asleep or relaxing.

If you're taking medication of any kind it could be a side effect. A pal of mine was jerking so bad that it was scary. Turned out it was one of the medications he took for anxiety and depression. It was washing important minerals out of his body. The doctor changed his meds and the jerks stops.

Here's an article talking about hypnic jerks. I have these pretty bad sometimes, usually when I've been feeling tense. They're bad enough to make me flail around unless I'm holding myself stiff.
