I can relate to your experience. I have had GERD (acid reflux) for several years. My problems have also been worst at night. I would wake up sometimes feeling like I was choking with that acid taste in my throat. Fortunately my problems have been very well controlled with medication, and I don't remember the last time I had one of these episodes. Best of luck to you!

My asthma meds give trouble occasionally. Then my synthroid was giving me trouble big time until my doctor said to try taking it every other day instead of every day (and after eating instead of on an empty stomach). I hate that side effects of meds wreck perfectly good, functioning parts so then you have to take something else that has its own side effects, etc. I can see how older people can end up with too many meds!

Try changing your diet if you have not already. Try to eat whole wheat, Fruits and Veggies, Pretty much as healthy as you can get. Pop, chocolate, tea, sugary drinks, fatty foods all trigger me. Also try eating one of thoes activia yogurt every day. I eat one before bed and it helps. If you can it helps to elevate your head while sleeping, and don't lay down at all for 30 minuets after eating. Hope some of these help until u see a doc.
