has any had a light scope done i cant remeber what its called... it starts with an E... im supposed to go next fri for one but not sure if im gonna go..... just the fact of someone sticking a lttle cam down my throat doesnt seem good to me....

Endoscopy? It won't bother you a bit. They have you pretty darn sedated. I've had one and it's no big deal.

I'm sorry you are having stomach trouble though. That's a bummer! I will hope and pray that they don't find anything that needs treatment.

I had one also. it wasn't bad since they all but put me to sleep. it was over in no time. good luck and please keep the appt.

I also had one and it was no problem. The drugs they give you really work well. Go and try to do it...remember you can stop the procedure any time you want to...

I was so "out of it" from the drugs that they gave me... I don't remember any of it.. was a "piece of cake".

LOL I guess I'm the only one who had an issue with it. . .but it was mild. I have a very sensitive gag reflex and my throat kept "seizing" on the scope. They finally knocked me totally out, tubed me, and then did the scope. I didn't mind too much.

skittles...by what people say it doesn't seem to be too bad...It is worth it so that they can find out about your stomach troubles...hopefully nothing serious!!!

Skittles, you can think about all of us here at PC...that is if you can find thoughts on those wonder drugs Hey, at least go and talk to them, don't avoid going at least, you can change your mind once there. But really, EVERYONE dislikes having this done... and they know that... and they make sure you don't feel it etc... (((hugs))) Get the strong part of you and go, girl!

I had an endoscopy done with zero medications. I was completely awake thru the entire procedure. Obviously I am here to tell you about it. I wouldn't call it super fun but I thought I'd post to show that someone made it through wide awake.

I also am part of the group that has gone through it. I don't even remember it, so they must have put me completely out. I was in the hospital at the time anyway & was having test done right & left, so hardly remember which one was which.

The worst part is thinking about it before hand.......after it's over, you will wonder why you were so stressed about it.

(((((skittles))))) it's ok. i had a tube down my throat 1 1/2 years ago. an ultrasound to check on my heart, it's call transesophageal-echocardiogram. my heart was fine. yes, they gave me sedatives. funny thing, my adrenaline resisted the sedatives and they had to give me a lot of sedatives. i didn't get knocked out completely, but it wasn't bad at all. they will spray your throat with a numbing local spray. i didn't feel it go down at all. so, it was no problem at all. it will be ok. don't worry. they'll make sure you will ok, too. they made sure i was ok, since i didn't go completely unconscious. about the resistance to the sedatives, it's really very rare.

I've had several endoscopies and colonoscopies wide awake. I didn't really like it, but I got through them. I finally changed Drs. I told the Dr and the anesthestist that I was very drug resistant and that I was afraid they wouldn't be able to get me drowsy, much less asleep. That's all I remember! I woke up after the tests feeling great.
