Do you know if you grind your teeth at night? I do when I'm stressed, or so I've been told. my jaw When I was younger, because of the grinding, I had a splint made, that I wore at night. Now you can buy night guards otc at the drug store; they're kinda pricey...but that might have something to do with it? I was told I had TMJ, don't remember what that stands for, but its some jaw disorder related to stress. I notice myself clenching my jaw and have to mentally make myself stop. I can't even chew gum much.

Hey SongsInMyHead

It could be TMJ, as Raynaadi said.

Link of info

I also grind my teeth when stressed, so I had a mouthguard made.

Have you had orthodontics before (braces or retainer)? Since they are sometimes used to reset your jaw (move it forward or backward to be in line) it can cause problems. At least I think that is what my dentist said...

Best to go to a dentist and find out, hope you're feeling better soon. I know the feeling, and it isn't pleasant!

Hi Song ~
I had what you are talking about ~ my jaw locked for a few weeks ~ i had to have surgery to free it up ~ wasnt a bad surgery and when i woke up i could move my jaw - was so great to get relief!! i could give you details about it but since our bodies are all different what happened to me might not be what happened to you .
Might want to start with a Dentist so that he can get a panograph film off your entire mouth - it shows the jaw joints in this film. Then he could give you the best advise.
i can tell you when i was locked up like that i lost 15 pounds! a diet of soup and slim fast for nutrients
i really feel for you - been there done that.(right at Christmas last year) Hope you get to a Dentist soon - to get you out of pain and eating again. Good luck to you!
