Just miserable right now. My arm hurts. My arm hurts because I have tendonitis in two different areas in my elbow and in my shoulder.

The elbow got pretty ouch a few weeks ago, the shoulder had low level pain so I didn't mention that to the doctor two weeks ago when he looked at the elbow. Then yesterday I made a stew for my co-workers, which involved carrying in a 7 quart slow cooker that was every bit of 35-40 pounds and then jumping right into work. By the end of the night I could barely move my shoulder.

When I asked the doctor "Why is this happening?" he gave a reasonable explanation. I loathe exercise and was horribly out of shape. Then life happened and I went from a cushy office job to a on-my-feet retail job. Apparently when weak muscles are overloaded by jumping into the deep end of weight-lifting and repetitive use, sometimes the body just can't keep up with the load and things like this go wrong.

Add in that this is my dominant arm and therefore is used more AND I was recovering from neuritis at the time I changed employment and my arm was significantly weaker than the rest of my body (I couldn't even sign my name properly on employment paperwork, my hand was so weak), it just got a double dose of that overload.

So I got a steroid shot today, I have to do a lot of home exercises, hit up the Aleve and lots and lots of ice. It's going to take a lot to get things right. I'm going to have to put a lot of effort into it.

I hope your arm pain is relieved soon. Tendonitis is a misery.

I've had tendonitis in my elbow and gotten the shot, too. Take good care of yourself and don't ignore it. I hope you begin to feel better soon.

I hope I feel better soon too.

I'm doing all the things the doctor said, even those home exercises that no one does. I guess it's probably too soon though to expect improvement.

The home exercises are really important, in my experience. It does take some time for them to work...even a few months.

I'm getting an MRI on Thursday. The doctor is concerned that since the shoulder isn't getting better, it might not actually have tendonitis, it might be a torn rotator cuff. I asked if that meant physical therapy, he responded that it might mean surgery. Thanks doc, needed the scare.
