This is TMI, but I just realized I haven’t gone to the bathroom since Halloween. I literally forget to go. My stomach is huge and I could barely get my pants buttoned. I didn’t put two and two together until this evening. I took some meds right away.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is this considered chronic constipation?

I also used the bathroom to pee at 5:10 this morning, and I didn’t use it again for 12 hours. Again, I didn’t need to go.

It’s pretty weird.

Hmm. I'm not sure what to think. It seems like not going poo for 10 days is way too long. I think constipation means you feel like you have to go, try, but can't.

As for not peeing for 12 hours...seems like a long time to me, but then I have to pee very frequently. Are your kidneys okay?

I have either low or high (can’t remember) kidney function from long term Lithium use.

Omg! Bozdickens, you might want to go to your doctor soon. This is not good for your health. I take Lithium, so I know how you feel. However, it makes me poop 6-10 times a day. Yup, in a day.

If Lithium is causing you not to poop for over a week, your pdoc needs to reassess your case.
Thanks for this!

I agree with All Is Revealed. I believe you need to check in with your doctor.

I got off Lithium in 2014, but my kidney function is still bad. I think it even got a little bit worse the last time I got my blood drawn. Can Lithium continue to cause problems even if you’ve been off it for years?

I still have not gone, nor do I feel like I need to. My doctor is on vacation and I don’t have a appointment with her until the 25th

I just feel anxious and mentally uncomfortable and my mom says I’ll feel better if I just go.

I’ll take more meds when I am at home.

I think there is a difference between forgetting to go and not needing or being able to. If you aren't passing gas either then I'd say there is a possible obstruction, and you do need to get looked at as that can cause some serious issues. Generally you'd be feeling pretty uncomfortable though. You could also be dehydrated. Drinking more proper fluids might help get things going. You could also try something like Movocol.

I think I just worry too much. I feel better mentally this week, but I’ve lost 3 pounds this week. So maybe I’m more stressed then I let myself believe.
