After months of intermittent digestive issues that turned into nausea, pain and daily diarrhea I had an ultrasound this week that found "a bunch" of gallstones. I see the surgeon on the 18th although I'm going to ask to be placed on a cancellation list.
I just feel rotten. It hurts and I'm not hungry and I don't want to wait this out until after Christmas. I already missed Thanksgiving. Has anyone been through this? How fast did you feel better after surgery?

I felt better apon waking from surgery, the relief was immediate. A couple days later my shoulders hurt from the gas escaping. They didn't warn me about that but once they explained that it was just extra gas from the laparoscopic method of surgery. I didn't even have a scar.

This is going to be my 3rd laparoscopic surgery (pelvic exploratory and hysterectomy) so I do know about the gas thing although I've never experienced it. My belly button probably will show a scar since it already is a little deformed after the 2nd surgery. I can't find the other scars so hopefully that will be true for these as well although I don't care as long as they get that thing out of me.
I'm so glad you felt relief immediately. I hope I do too. I'm getting really frustrate, especially as I start realizing I'm giving out IOUs for several Christmas presents. Oh well.

My husband had his taken out a few years back. He's been fine except if he has too much fat or spicy food. He was only out for a few days.

I had my gall bladder removed 9 days after giving birth. Instant relief. I had to stay in the hospital a few days due to liver issues that came from having to wait until giving birth to have it out. I was up walking to the bathroom a few hours after surgery. I have had no issues since, even if I eat greasy foods.

Did you see the surgeon today? Hopefully you have a surgery date soon.

I saw the surgeon and it was a bit of a disaster. He was all ego and very uncomforttable with my mental illness. He says he can't do the surgery for 2-3 months because he is too busy with bigger surgeries which was what he does; he doesn't handle little things like gall bladders. Which would be fine if gall bladder wasn't listed 4 different ways on his "about me" page.
My psychiatrist is trying to see what she can find out from him and if he can give a referral instead of just randomly calling around the (enormous) hospital trying to find someone else. So I don't know what will happen. I'll get on his schedule when they call me if I haven't found out something else but hopefully someone else will come along because this guy did not make a good impression.

Sounds like a jerk! I wouldn't want him operating on me. Hope you can find a better one with a sooner date.

You definitly need to find a surgeon to take out your gallbladder! I had mine removed when I was 15 because I had a bunch of gallstones and they were small but dangerous. If they're small, they have a high chance of going through the tubes your gallbladder is connected to and causing a blockage. Which could lead to serious complications. I don't mean to alarm you, or scare you .. I just want to be 100% honest and let you know even though it may not be a HUGE surgery, it can still be serious. That surgeon you went to sounded like a complete asshole, so I wouldn't want him doing the operation. Find somebody who will take you seriously and do your surgery soon.
It took me a few months to adjust to not having my gallbladder anymore but I'm 24 now and have minimal issues, I just get gas more often now.
