Over the past two weeks I've been consuming tons of soda, caffeine, and alcohol. My daily drinking routine includes 2-3 cups of coffee before work, a zero-cal/zero-sugar Monster, more coffee, several sodas in between and then I'd be so jacked up that I would need 1-2 tall drinks of some form of alcohol (margarita, malibu and juice, fireball and lemonade) in order to fall asleep. I believe stress is to blame for my consumption, and I became so bloated that though I didn't gain too much weight, I was so bloated that my stomach looked as though I gained 30 pounds.
So for the past three days I've been doing a simple "detox", flushing my system out with water. I reduced my caffeine-intake and eliminated alcohol, and every time I felt thirsty or the urge, I would drink a cup of water. It did wonders! The bloat went down dramatically AND I'm back to my "lowest weight" AKA the lowest weight since I began dieting, I feel more awake and alert with only 2-3 cups of coffee than I did with twice that amount. Last night I had never felt so relaxed at work period, and an hour after I came home I was so drowsy that I was able to fall straight to sleep! I'm not constantly craving sweets or caffeine, and I have no interest in drinking alcohol (of course, it's only been three days, I'm positive those urges will come back). I feel great drinking water. I like to add Crystal light for flavoring. I know this post probably sounds crazy, but hey, an epiphany on the benefits of water! It does good things to your body! ![]() |

I love water. To me, there is nothing like it in the world...it is so healthy and tastes great. I've always drunk a lot of water.

Great change!
You may also be sleeping better now that you quit the alcohol, which could be one reason you feel better. I am very pro-water. Drinking the right amount seems to make my body work better. It helps your digestion, too, since it helps with digestive mobility. There is a water tracking mechanism on my fitness pal. Love it. |

I wish water would do the same for me!
I never drink alcohol and I stopped drinking soda over a year ago. Didn't drink coffee then, either (now I do, but less than half a cup a day). Drink between 1,5 and 2 liters of water a day. Can't say I've noticed any positive effects though.... |
