Hi all, I've been gastroenterologist doc for stomach pain. My stomach pretty much hurts all the time no matter what I eat. The first consult he says I could be lactose intolerant , acid reflux (i have a endoscopy scheduled for this) and also have ibs-c. I get really worried when my stomach hurt as it makes me feel like I cant breathe. I really worry that eventually the pain may cause me horrible diarrhea and kill me. How do accept my diagnosis, and ignore the pain so it won't cause me any anxiety?

I'm sorry you're in so much pain. What occurs to me is that this is something you perhaps need to be talking about with your doctor whether that's the gastroenterologist or your G.P. Here's a link to an article, from PsychCentral's archives, on the subject of using mindfulness to approach chronic pain:

Using Mindfulness to Approach Chronic Pain

I wish you well...

I know all too well how health problems can be extremely frightening. In your case I honestly believe that your condition will not, not kill you. The miserable symptoms you're describing go hand-in-hand with an anxiety disorder. I know this because it runs in my family like wildfire.

SSRI's can definitely help with both anxiety and the stomach problems.

My (grown) daughter has had the situation you've described all of her life. A few years ago she and I attended a class (just 2 hours) about stomach issues and anxiety. She found the class educational and helpful.

i can empathize, Ken. for years i thought i had IBS, but my docs were terrible bigots, and just ignored me, or one Diagnosed ulcers without cause...

finally i got a good doc, who suggested that i start taking vitamin D. within 3 days the symptoms were GONE~! of course this is not the cure-all for every stomach problem, but it's something to consider before a gastro~ aaarrrggghhh gag

best wishes~!

^^^ Interestingly, my daughter (who has had GAD and IBS all of her life) was also told to take vitamin D, and to sit in the morning sun for 10 minutes most days. She did those things and felt markedly improved after about a month.
