I have had migraines for as long as I can remember. I have been on many different meds to ether catch them before they start, or try to get rid of them once I have one. I went and seen my primary Dr. yesterday, and now she is thinking that I may have Trigeminal Neuralgia, and she put me on Tegretol. I hat to say this but I am hoping that this is what it is, and the meds take care of it.

I so feel for her! She may want to bring this up with her Dr. and be checked for this. I am 53, and this is the first time this was brought up. There are meds to keep this medical problem under control, so if it turns out to be that this is what your Daughter has, she won't have to suffer for so many years like I have had to do. I hope this med works for me, and I no longer have to deal with the debilitating headaches again!

That sounds horrible. I get migraines. I take zonegran and have maxalt for when i get one. I also have this migraine oil stuff that I use that helps a bit Headache Roll-on
– Lavender Anne's I was actually thinking about getting my daith pierced to see if that would help. I would like to go off the zonegran. I hope you get some relief from the tegretol. Head pain is one of the worst things. |

I've had migraines since I was about 8 years old. Excruciating, hatchet, sickening migraines. So bad that, in high school, I recall lying on the cool bathroom floor in the school bathroom near the toilet so I could throw up in it. There was nothing OTC until Advil became available - I was in my 20's. Prior to that, the only treatment was ergot (prescription). That stuff was horrid; made my heartbeat very odd - and didn't help the migraines. When Imitrex spray came out, it was a blessing. once, I had to crawl into a clinic for an Imitrex shot. Ugh.
Thankfully, since going through menopause the migraines have not only lessened in frequency, but they have lessened dramatically in severity. Advil does the job now, usually. You have my most profound sympathy. ![]() |

Well the med my Primary put me on, has made me feel so bad. I tried it for several weeks. I am now working on getting off of it. I already, today have only taken half the dose for my morning dose, and I will do the same for my evening dose. After a couple days, I will cut it again, and I will keep doing this until I am off it. I know with this med, if I just stop, I can have seizures, so I have to do this slowly. I have 2 more months until I see my Primary again, so this is what I am doing.
