I have pink eye for the first time ever...does it go away on it's own?

Uhhhh... I don't know if it does, and if you leave it without treating it you risk giving it to those around you... treating it is pretty easy, a doc will prescribe eyedrops.

antibiotic ointment or drops for the eyes can help. A good home treatment that can help is hot compresses on the eyes a half dozen times a day. As hot as you can stand it. But don't neglect to go to the doctor too.

You need to get to the doctor, there's several "kinds" and some are highly contagious and they need different treatment.

no, you need to call your doctor and get a prescription.
it is highly contageous so your doctor may not have you come in but may call in the prescription instead. |

Be sure and wash the washcloths that you use on your eyes with clorox. The hot washcloths make your eyes feel better and help loosen the gunk that forms on your lashes, but you definately need the eye drops.
