I am concerned. I have had a "stye" on my eyelid for a while. I say a while because I haven't focused on it. My best guess is 4 months. It just isn't going away.

Finally, I decided to look up what it could be and, well, grrr not great. Horrifying but yes, you can get eyelid cancer. I have an appointment with a doctor on Tuesday.

These are the reasons I think it couldn't be cancer...

1. It says eye lid cancer is linked to being out in the sun. I never go out in the sun. If I do go outside, I always have big sunglasses on.

2. The average age of eye lid cancer is 73. I am 50.

3. I went to get an eye exam. The doctor said nothing about it.

4. I had a redness in my eye (not lid) recently and I went to the doctor, the doctor said nothing bout it. But diagnosed me with conjunctivitis. But I honestly think he was wrong. I think it was dry eye due to a fan on me all night.

5. I have a high vitamin D level which supposedly helps avoid cancer.

6. I have had several scares over the years and it always turns out to be nothing. A few years back I had a bruise under my toe and they had to rip off my toe and take a biopsy and it was nothing. My body is talented at coming up with these weird marks.

7. This redmark does seem to sometimes get bigger and then go down again, like a pimple. I know that because when it blows up it irritates my eye. It doesn't seem to be growing or getting larger width wise.

Reasons I think it could be.

1. There is a type of cancer * that is the worse kind * that one of the symptoms is conjuntivitis.

2. The doctor that diagnosed me with conjuntivis told me to come back if still had any red eye. I do not but .. that made me think he was suspicious of the red mark.

3. That eye just hasn't been right for a while.. I do get random red eye that lasts a day. I had thought it was dry eye.

4. This red mark just never goes away and seems to be down my inner lid... but it is hard to tell as the inner lid is red anyway.

I am trying not to panic but the one thing on my body that gives me the willys is my eye. If they do a biopsy... well I don't even want to think about what they will need to do. And then treatment? My god.. pure torture for someone that never touches her eye.

I have like the best hospital in the USA for eyes.. I called them for an appointment but they didn't get back to me. I think I am going to go to this one and then go there as well.

This is going to be a long weekend.

I have had those issues before, and for me it wasn't cancer.

I do think it is good to have it checked out though.

I agree definitely get it Checked out, and don’t feel shy asking questions at your appointment. I would try not to focus on the possibility of it being cancer though, I don’t think worrying will help. You can pay yourself on the back because you made an appointment to get it checked and you reached out here for support which are both good things to do.

Did you get sorted. When I had the same thing a pharmacist told me to make a warm solution of baby shampoo and dip a cotton bud (Q tip) in and gently massage the area - worked for me.
Thanks for this!

No.. it is still there.

I think it has gotten slighly better by using a q tip every morning and night to clear my eye lids. It hasn't gotten worse.
