I think a couple people here have it. It's not ridiculous, it can kill you. My aunt had it. I just have hypothyroid. Hope some of your symptoms improve with treatment.

Good Mayo Clinic pages on it: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/has...567/DSECTION=1

I have hypothyroidism but I take synthroid for it. They beleive that is what brought on my a-fibrillation. The inability to tolorate cold was the only sign I had that told me I had hypothyroidism. Even then I didnt know I had it, I just figured it was the raynauds syndrome I get in my fingers and toes. I dont have Hashimoto, but at least they found out you had it before any more damage could be done.

Yes! I had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis...I use the word had because your immune system may eventually stop attacking the thyroid. It's not a permanent disease, however the damage it causes is permanent.

Are you taking an thyroid meds? Such as synthroid, levothyroxine, armour thyroid?

--> I highly recommend Armour Thyroid. I was on Synthroid for 10 years and it gave me nothing but problems. Hair loss, weight gain, fatigue..etc..Basically all the things it was suppose to fix.

Ask your doctor about all the available meds, before he starts prescribing you anything! Always ask about the side affects.

I'll be polite about this question as possible, because I know you're never supposed to ask a woman this question...but are you older, if you know what I mean?

hypothyroidism is quite common in woman who are pre- to postmenopause.

Have you had bloodwork to to check your iodine levels and your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) Free T4(thyroxine), and Free T3(triiodothyronine) levels? Did your doctor also check for Thyroid Anti-bodies in your blood?

There's nothing to really worry about, unless you are suffering from severe side-affects. So long as you take the thyroid medication, you'll be fine. I've had a thyroid condition for 11 years, some of which went untreated because no one knew I had it.

If you have any other questions, about supplements or anything else about hypothyroidism, feel free to ask. I've been dealing with this issue so long myself, I should've went to med school to become an endocrinologist! Just dx'ed w/ Hashimoto's disease

Good luck!
