It seems I have had an unusually sensitive stomach for quite a while now. It's frustrating because I never know what I should or shouldn't eat, as different things set it off every time.

I woke up today with the feeling I usually get preceding problems, which is that I really need to eat something ASAP, but when I do that, it almost guarantees it coming back up. It's kind of a really intense burning feeling, and I'm a little shaky.

Any clues? I have a dr. appointment next week anyway, so I'll bring it up then, but just wondering.

Maybe. It isn't really pain, though. It's more of a "hmm, am I hungry, or do I need to throw up?" feeling that happens to burn.

I dunno. I'll ask the internist next week. An ulcer wouldn't surprise me, but it's the last thing I need on top of everything else I have going on!

Do you ever try taking antacids or something instead of eating? I wake with a weird feeling sometimes in the middle of the night that I equate to hunger "or something", more an ache than a pain though, and I take a Pepcid Complete and that fixes it; sometimes if I eat instead (unless it is dry toast) it does develop into real acid burning sort of pain (and I'm sorry I ate). If an antacid might fix it (and keep you from throwing up) that would give you a clue. I do the Pepcid Complete because they're half like Tums (the calcium and all that good stuff for the stomach itself) and half bloodstream stuff that takes 15-20 minutes to work, they last 12 hours but I don't think I've ever needed more than 1 in a 24 hour period.

The next time it happens, can you try to eat something that is more of a "base" like something with carbs, but not much else... like toast? Sometimes that makes that feeling go away for me. It could be too much acid, it's happened to me.

I had that problem and ended up having and EGD and they found an ulcer and antibiotis in my tummy so now I'm on Previcavcid and some high powered antibiotics. You should get it checked out.
