How do you know if you have a 'accident waiting to happen' going on in your heart or heart valves?
As far as i know, usually it's deposits of plaque which become fused to your arterial wall and hang around there for years, then break off during exertion, causing a blood clot, which can be the ticking time bomb . . . how do i check if i have one of these? I am 30 years old and about 50 pounds overweight, and eat a lot of junk food, not much salad. Thoughts? |

you would have to see a cardiologist and probably have to have a heart cath done.

A chemical (nuclear) stress test is a good start...it will determine if you need a cath or not. Or other option is a CTA of the cornory arteries. Not sure where you're at or what insurance you have, but many insurances are slow or no paying these. Around $700. A carotid doppler will also give a baseline idea if there is blockage. All these require a cardiologist. (Except some gp's are doing stress and echoes in office now).

Ive had a catheter ablation, which is very similar to a catheterization. If you need any info on it, let me know. Aspirin regemin is another good start, just ask your doc before you start one.
